Daniel Gonen (1990-2015): How many more Israelis will be killed before Ramadan ends?

UPDATES

**The efforts by Hamas to probe Israeli defenses by sending terrorists to attempt breaches in the Gaza security fence continue. Another infiltrator was shot by IDF forces early this morning.

**Speaking of security breaches, the following photo was taken yesterday near Jerusalem. The Israeli police make little to no effort to stop illegal infiltration:

Just put a ladder up to the fence and climb over.

**Following John Kerry’s outrageous statement the other day that the United States no longer thinks that it is important for Iran to account for past work on nuclear weapons development, an Iranian spokesman said yesterday that “the nuclear deal has passed the point of no return” and will be signed shortly.

The unnamed spokesman commented that the United States “has no other option except to sign” because the world “has grown weary of the nuclear talks.”

Of course, the Iranian is absolutely correct. The Obama Administration has capitulated on every red line it has ever set, and the Iranians have played the West for fools during the last decade of so-called “negotiations”–knowing that the West would eventually tire of the whole issue.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Daniel Goren (1990-2015). May your memory be blessed.

Daniel Gonen (1990-2015). How many more Israelis will be killed before Ramadan is over?

Your humble servant has been somewhat obsessed in recent days writing about the dangerous “gestures” for peace that our idiotic Israeli government is making to the Palestinians in order to “improve their quality of life.”

On June 15, an israelstreet blog entitled “And you wonder why the situation is out of control in Judea and Samaria?” chronicled how the IDF punished soldiers for defending themselves in the Judea and Samaria war zone.

On June 16, israelstreet noted the absurd opening of roads and shops in Hebron, and wondered “Let’s see how long it takes for Jews to be attacked and murdered again in Hebron.”

On June 17, israelstreet noted in “More and More Gestures for Peace” how IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot was initiating a series of “Ramadan” steps which would make Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem, and all of Israel infinitely more dangerous.

And in virtually every blog of the last two weeks, either in the Updates section or in the Today’s Blog section, your humble servant has castigated the Netanyahu government for transforming Hamas into the good guys.  Israelstreet has wondered how in the world the Israeli government can befriend an organization dedicated to killing Jews and eradicating Israel from the map.

All of the above came together tragically yesterday.

Daniel Gonen, a 25-year-old resident of Lod, was shot to death at point-blank range in his car by a Hamas Palestinian terrorist near Ramallah. Another Israeli in the car was also wounded.

Avid hikers, Gonen and his friend had just returned to their car after having visited the Ein Buvin spring near the Jewish community of Dolev–which is near Ramallah.

According to the friend, after they had driven about 300 meters, a Palestinian on the road waved for them to stop, asked them for help, and asked them if they had any water.

He then opened fire with a 9 mm gun.

And then fled toward the Palestinian settlement of Deir Abu Ibzi. As of this moment, the murderer remains at large.

Comments about the murder came quickly; three are of note:

From Aaron Gonen, Danny’s uncle:  “Danny was the best boy in the world. He was an electrical engineering student who loved to hike everywhere in Israel. He was the eldest son and is survived by his mother and four brothers. He was the mainstay of his family after his father died some years ago.”

From Israel’s new friend Hamas–that claimed “responsibility” for the murder: “We welcome the unique and heroic operation that took place near Ramallah. We, and with us all our people, view with the utmost respect and appreciation those pure hands who held on to the resistance and turned their fire toward the occupier.”

An anonymous source in the IDF: “The murderer is likely a Hamas member who decided to kill after listening to a Ramadan sermon in Ramallah–and he exploited the recent Ramadan relaxation on restrictions.”

Daniel Gonen. May his memory be blessed.
