In advance of their graduation ceremony, the IAF has produced some statistics about our newest pilots:

49% are from cities; 40% from small towns; 8% from rural communities; and 3% from kibbutzim.

22% had served in Israel special forces units before becoming pilots.

61% are direct relatives of air crews currently serving in the IAF.

most of the graduates are 21 years old; the oldest is 25.

3 women are in the group.

 TODAY’S BLOG:

**The mournful funeral of Daniel Gonen tragically took place late last night in Lod. Murdered by a Palestinian terrorist on Friday near Dolev, the 25-year-old Gonen left behind a mother and four younger brothers.

Gonen's mother was overcome with grief for her murdered son last night.

Hundreds of people attended the funeral of a young man universally described as loving, faithful, and honest.

Daniel Gonen, proud son of Israel, was laid to rest.

Gonen carried a donor card, and his organs were donated to those in need. A match has already been found for his corneas which will be implanted in a person in the coming days.

Your humble servant must say that he is greatly angered by the IDF response to Gonen’s murder. After a mere one day of searching the Palestinian settlement into which the terrorist ran, the IDF called off the search last night.

Not only did the Army call off the search, but also all access roads into the Dayr Ibzi and its neighboring Palestinian settlement of Kinya were reopened. The terrorist will now more than likely just waltz out of the area into the waiting arms of his Hamas confederates.

And why exactly has the IDF decided to do nothing? Because, according to the IDF spokesman, it is committed to “free movement” and easing of restrictions in the area because of Ramadan. It appears that everything is subordinate to the Palestinians having a nice holiday.

Ramadan. Ramadan. Ramadan. An Israeli is murdered, and all the IDF General Staff can think about is Ramadan.

It’s enough to make you sick.

As was the scene on the Temple Mount on Friday where more than 80,000 Muslims prayed at Judaism’s holiest place–a place at which no Jews were allowed because of Ramadan.

When asked about the IDF initiative to bring hundreds of thousands of Muslims to the Mount for Ramadan, one young worshiper said (as reported in the Jerusalem Post today), “everyone is very peaceful during Ramadan, and bringing us here promotes peace.”

Sure . . . tell that to Daniel Gonen’s family.

Micky Rosenfeld, spokesman for the Jerusalem Police, disingenuously gloated this morning that “no disturbances were reported in the capital during the first days of Ramadan.”

Hmm. No disturbances except for continued “rock” and Molotov cocktail throwing around the Old City–some of which resulted in Israelis being wounded last night.

Ramadan. Ramadan. Ramadan.

Your humble servant is definitely going to be ill.
