**Aside from the attempted murders yesterday in Jerusalem, there have been scores of terror incidents throughout Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria overnight. A small sample:
A terrorist was shot and wounded near Beit El after attacking IDF troops with an IED device. Dozens of Palestinians attacked Israeli security personnel at the Damascus Gate. Israelis were wounded by “rocks” in a bus attack near Hizma. A bus driver was wounded in the eastern part of Jerusalem. Terrorists threw Molotov cocktails at Jewish homes on the Mt. of Olives with absolute impunity.
**In what can only be described as a bizarre judicial proceeding in Jerusalem yesterday, the Israel State Attorney’s Office refused to ask that an Arab terrorist who stabbed a Jewish man in the back near the Damascus Gate on May 23rd be indicted for “attempted murder.”
Despite the fact that the terrorist used a 30 centimeter long knife–exactly like the knife used in the attack at the Damascus Gate yesterday–prosecutors only asked that the terrorist be charged with “aggravated assault.”
Unbelievable.
**Almost as unbelievable as French FM Fabius meeting with Tzipi Livni in Jerusalem yesterday.
Say what? Tzipi Livni again?
Fabius was in Jerusalem pushing the new French initiative to make the Israel-Palestinian “the central issue” in the Middle East again.
Can you even believe this? Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya . . . and the Israel-Palestinian issue will now be pushed?
TODAY’S BLOG:
“No disturbances [have been] reported in the capital during the first days of Ramadan.”
Micky Rosenfeld, spokesman for the Jerusalem Police

Another day of Ramadan. Another day of attempted murders in Israel.
The events of the last 48 hours were so predictable that even your humble servant predicted them days ago.
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to see that all of the “gestures” for peace that the Netanyahu government and the IDF offered to the Palestinians would end up getting Israelis killed. Surely, the Netanyahu government and the IDF must have known that too.
Daniel Gonen was the first to die–shot to death at point blank range by a Palestinian terrorist near Dolev. An as yet unnamed Border Guard near the Damascus Gate was the target yesterday.
Even though a Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court inexplicably clamped a total news blackout on the Damascus Gate incident, here were some facts we found out before that gag order went into the effect:
*The young Border Guard was stabbed at least 3 times: in the neck, chest, and in the heart yet still managed to fire at the terrorist as he was falling to the ground. He was brought to Sha’are Zedek barely alive–and only alive because the MADA personnel managed to resuscitate him in the ambulance. He was placed into a coma in which doctors sought to stabilize him. We have no word on his condition today, but last night it was “extremely critical.”
*The Palestinian terrorist who stabbed the Border Guard was shot in the shoulder. First reports described him as “dead”; however, later reports from the hospital said that he was still alive after surgery there. The terrorist was from the Palestinian settlement of Sa’ir in suburban Hebron.
And what was the terrorist from Hebron doing in Jerusalem? Regular readers of israelstreet will remember that several days ago, the IDF relaxed restrictions throughout Hebron–opening stores, removing checkpoints, and opening access roads into and out of the city.

Presumably, the terrorist merely hopped in a car and drove, was driven, or took a bus to Jerusalem.
In order to kill Jews.
Perhaps the most idiotic comment of the afternoon came from Jerusalem District Police Commander Moshe Edri who said that the terrorist was a “lone wolf” and that because of his lack of affiliation with any terror groups, the Ramadan “gestures for peace” should remain in place.
Some lone wolf. This morning, pictures of the terrorist have appeared on the Hamas website showing that he was member of Hamas:
The terrorist after being shot yesterday:
And what did Israel’s new friend Hamas have to say:
“The heroic operation sends a message of resistance to the occupation whereby resisting youth are able to defy the occupation and reach its soldiers . . .”
By the way, yet another terror attack was thwarted in Jerusalem three hours after Damascus Gate attack. In this attempted attack–which remains virtually unreported by any Israeli news media–another Arab with a knife was taken down at a Jerusalem Light Rail train stop.
What has been the Israeli response to all the terrorism swirling around us?
Hold your breath . . . Last night, Moshe Ya’alon canceled entry permits into Israel for Palestinians from the terrorist’s tiny suburban settlement of Sa’ir, and he canceled 500 permits for Palestinians to travel abroad from Ben Gurion airport (they can still travel abroad, just not through the airport).
Wow. Talk about a breathtaking lack of response. Talk about fiddling as Rome burns.
Where will the attack or attacks come from today?
The sad truth is that we have reached the despicable state in this country at which the government and the IDF are willing to sacrifice Israeli lives on the altar of political correctness.
