**Ramadan: Day 13 (yesterday):
Palestinians celebrated Ramadan by rejoicing over the the death of Malachi Moshe Rosenfeld last night (see Today’s Blog). Rosenfeld tragically succumbed to the gunshot wounds he received in the terrorist attack on Monday night.
Similar Palestinian terrorism has continued unabated with Palestinians attacking Israelis all over Samaria. One of the worst attacks occurred last night on Route 443 near the Jewish community of Adam, and at the northern entrance to Efrat where 5 Molotov cocktails were thrown at Israeli motorists.

**So much for the U.S. Congress, the Free Trade Bill, and support for Israel:
Hours after signing the Free Trade Bill, the Obama Administration came out yesterday and said it would not abide by all of the “anti-boycott” provisions of the bill, but instead will pick and choose which provisions to support.
As you may not know, the anti-boycott provisions include a statement that the U.S. will expect its trading partners not to boycott “people working in the territories under Israeli control”–in other words, in Area C of Judea and Samaria.
Specifically, the White House made it clear yesterday that “Jewish settlements beyond the Green Line will not get any protection from the government,” and that it it will “not implement policies or activities that would give them legitimacy.”
To put it another way, President Obama feels free to do whatever he wants–and the Congress be damned it it disagrees with him.
**”My Name is Rachel Corrie” rears its ugly head again:
The egregiously anti-Israel play about the self-proclaimed “human rights activist” who moronically stood in front of an Israeli bulldozer in a war zone and was run over, will be playing tonight at the Theater of Jaffa.
In the audience, thankfully, will be representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Sport. The Theater of Jaffa is another entity funded largely by Israeli taxpayer money, and many of us wonder why we are funding productions that delegitimize Israel.
It is worthwhile to note again that this is not a free speech issue. No one is suggesting that theaters do not have a right to show plays that demean Israel (though we all feel that it is lunacy to do so); however, virtually everyone agrees that such productions should not be paid for by public money.
You may remember the controversy that erupted a few weeks ago about the Haifa theater production of a play that glorified the Palestinian terrorist murderer of an Israeli soldier. What eventually happened is that the Ministry of Culture and Sport froze funding for the play–which went on anyway paid for by private financing from “leftist” organizations (as your humble servant predicted).
**Not only have the PLO and its Chairman Mahmoud Abbas been completely silent about the terrorism sweeping eastern Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, but also they has been silent about the IS flyers that have been repeatedly distributed throughout eastern Jerusalem in recent weeks. The latest flyer that appeared yesterday threatened a specific attack on the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
Those flyers are threatening that if “infidel Christians” do not leave eastern Jerusalem and Bethlehem by the end of Ramadan, they will be slaughtered during Eid al-Fitr, the feast that comes at the end of the holiday.
As you saw in yesterday’s israelstreet blog, IS supporters are now openly and regularly demonstrating on the Temple Mount–with no interference from the Islamic Wakf or the Israeli police.
Interestingly, the PLO and IS are on the same page when it comes to Christians. For example, since the onset of PLO rule over Bethlehem in 1993 after the signing of the Oslo Accords, the Christian population has plummeted from 60% of the populations to a meager 15% today.

Yesterday, on a pleasant summer evening in Jerusalem, Malachi Moshe Rosenfeld died. He had been hit by five bullets fired by Palestinian terrorists late Monday night at the Shvut Rachel junction near Shiloh.
Malachi was by all accounts a wonderful brother, son, and friend. After his older brother, a pilot, died in a hiking accident some years ago, he had taken over “older brother” responsibilities in the family. Described as an engineering genius, Malachi had just been to a basketball game with some of his friends when the terrorists struck.
On their way back home at about 11 pm, a car with Palestinian license plates pulled up along side their car and riddled it with at least 15 9mm bullets. Everyone in Malachi’s car was wounded, Malachi most grievously. Malachi gamely hung onto to life until about 6 pm yesterday.
There are many things that need to be said:
Malachi was killed because he was a Jew.
He was also killed because the Netanyahu government, our so-called “Defense” Minister Ya’alon, and the vaunted planners in abominable IDF COGAT unit are (as this blog has stated before) so beset by political correctness that they are perfectly willing to see Israelis wounded and murdered. Nothing is more important to them than for the “world” to see that Israel is trying to make the lives of the “poor Palestinians” easier.
The IDF in particular, is clueless. On the one hand, we had “Defense” Minister Ya’alon declaring yesterday that the current wave of terrorism is being orchestrated and funded by Hamas operatives located in Turkey (note that once again, Ya’alon refuses to blame Hamas in Gaza for anything). Five minutes later, in a different venue, we had an IDF spokesman telling us that the current wave of terrorism is “random”; it is not orchestrated or funded by anyone.
This morning, the IDF has at least taken two token steps to quell the violence. It has dispatched the Nahal Brigade to Judea and Samaria, and it has set up observation points along various roads in the area.

Neither of these steps is likely to accomplish anything. Until the government rescinds all of the “Ramadan gestures”, the terrorism is going to continue–and probably even after that since terrorists have now been allowed into Israel willy-nilly.
Another small step that should take immediately is to close certain roads in Judea and Samaria to all cars that have Palestinian license plates (of course, the terrorists can still steal Israeli license plates and cars). These roads were opened to Palestinians in recent years as “gestures” to the Palestinians at the insistence of the Obama Administration and European Union.
Something that all Israelis should do is protest against the impotence of our government. 500 Israelis demonstrated at the Shvut Rachel Junction last night. All day today there will a demonstration in front of Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem.

Addendum: It might be of interest for you to note, dear reader, that PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has responded to the Palestinian terrorism this week by giving an award to Fatima Bernau–who put a bomb in a Jerusalem theater in 1967. Bernau received a “Pioneer of Palestinian Prisoners Award”.
Fortunately, the bomb was discovered before it exploded; Bernau spent 10 years in Israeli prison for attempted murder. Now she is a Palestinian heroine.
A student from Malawi, who had worked with an Israeli health volunteer in his country battling AIDS, came up to us as we walked down the street in the UC-Davis Picnic Day Parade and wanted to carry the Israeli flag.
