**Ramadan: Day 14 (yesterday):
Palestinians celebrated Ramadan in numerous ways yesterday such as by firing gunshots at Jews in the Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood of Jerusalem, throwing Molotov cocktails at cars along Road 443, infiltrating the community of Adora, trying to stab an Egged bus driver in Rishon LeZion, and wounding a woman with “rocks” in Ariel.
Malachi Moses Rosenfeld, killed in the terror attack on Monday night, was buried yesterday at a funeral attended by thousands.
Meanwhile, more than a thousand people including your humble servant, demonstrated outside of PM Netanyahu’s home last evening demanding the government do something about the wave of terrorism such as renewing construction in Area C of Judea and Samaria. As Rabbi Eli Sadan of the Yesha Council said yesterday: “For every attack, there must be confirmed within 24 hours, 200 new housing units.”
**Miracles do happen:
Remember the as yet unnamed Border Guard who was stabbed in the back of the neck, chest, and heart several days ago at the Damascus Gate (yet still killed the terrorist who attacked him).
Remember how he actually “died” and had to be resuscitated on the way to the hospital in Jerusalem and was comatose in extremely grave condition for 24 hours?
Miraculously, he got out of his hospital bed yesterday and walked to the Kotel (Western Wall) to pray.
The ovation he received from his fellow Border Guards and the crowd at the Kotel was heartwarming.
*A hero died yesterday:
Sir Nicholas Winton, 106 years old, passed away. A man who should have received the Nobel Peace Prize for his valiant efforts during the Holocaust but now never will, Winton personally saved 669 children from the gas chambers.
These children were mostly from Czechoslovakia and were transported to Britain and placed in foster homes. The operation was called “the Czech Kindertransport.”
Israelstreet hopes that Sir Nicolas Winton will rest in peace.

**Hamas terrorists in Shechem (Nablus) arrested:
The General Security Service (GSS) announced yesterday that 40 Hamas members have been arrested. Many of those captured include senior operatives who directed operations, funded operations, and maintained contacts abroad.
The extensive cell had branches all the way up to Jenin and was funding its terrorism through gold smuggling from Jordan. The terrorist in charge of finances is Suleiman Mohammed Samih, the owner of a gold shop in Shechem.
The investigation has so far revealed that the terrorists had ties with terrorists in Syria and Gaza.
TODAY’S BLOG:
It has been a long and sleepless night here in Ashdod. From 12 am until 5 am, we have heard explosions to the south of us. From all reports, these are the result of the fighting that is going on just across the border in Egypt.
The events of the last 12 hours are not exactly clear, but here is what we can piece together:
*A number of IS-Muslim Brotherhood-Al Qaeda attacks against the Egyptian Army killed between 40 and 70 Egyptian soldiers yesterday. One report alone, from the morgue at Al-Arish, was that 30 “uniformed” bodies had been brought in during the afternoon. The attacks were extremely well coordinated with about 100 terrorists attacking 5 checkpoints simultaneously. There is every reason to believe that the Egyptian government is covering up the extent of Army losses.
*Egyptian planes have been pounding the northern Sinai ever since the attacks, and Saudi Arabian helicopters from a base in northern Saudi Arabia near Eilat have been brought in and placed at Egypt’s disposal. Israel has given its permission for both the Egyptian planes and Saudi helicopters to be used (Israel has that right according to the peace treaty signed at Camp David).
*According to the Egyptian Army more than 100 IS-Muslim Brotherhood-Al Qaeda “armed” fighters have been killed. The homes of Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Cairo have been raided and an undetermined number of those leaders have been killed. A few hours ago, the Brotherhood declared that its leaders had been killed “in cold blood” and called for a revolution against Egyptian President Sisi.
*The Egyptian government passed a new “anti-terror” law late last night which is expected to be quickly signed into law by President Sisi this morning. Minister of Transitional Justice, Ibrahim Henaidy, told an Egyptian newspaper last night that the new law will provide “harsher punishment”, broaden investigative powers concerning “terrorist crimes”, give new powers to prosecutors, and “facilitate procedures to inspect and examine the bank accounts of suspects.”
*In the last two hours: IS has warned Egypt that it will attack Cairo within 24 hours unless the Army stands down in the Sinai. Egyptian planes have just bombed a convoy of four cars killing 10 people. Who was in the cars is anyone’s guess.
*Israel has closed the Nitzana crossing into Egypt and Kerem Shalom Crossing into Gaza (but on the Egyptian border) for fear that IS may use armored vehicles and tanks captured from the Egyptian Army yesterday in a cross-border attack on Israel. Residents along the Egyptian and Gaza borders received this text message from the IDF last night: “Due to the events in Sinai, the IDF is preparing accordingly and security coordinators have briefed. There may be an increased activity of security forces in the area, we would like to be vigilant.”
The bottom line is that despite Egyptian protestations to the contrary, terrorists have taken over the Sinai and are poised on Israel’s border. They are extremely well-organized and well-armed and have three targets in their sights: the Sisi government, Hamas in Gaza, and Israel.
What happens in Egypt will be a bellwether of things to come in the neighborhood.
