**So what were those incoming rocket sirens all over northern Israel about yesterday afternoon?

No one seems to know, but the residents of the Israeli Golan Heights, the Galilee region, and the Jezreel Valley were all sent running to their bomb shelters at 4:39 pm. The IDF, as always, was quick to say that it was “a false alarm”. However, this was amended later to “it was apparently a false alarm.”

The missiles that were fired at Israel from Syria will probably be found today.

**So what were all of those “booms” we heard yesterday and last night here in Ashdod?

They were explosions from the bombs that the Egyptian Air Force was dropping on Rafiah. The reports from yesterday are that the fighting “intensified” along the Egyptian-Gaza border. Heavy exchanges also took place on the ground between Egyptian Army units and IS/Al-Qaeda/Hamas terrorists.

**So when are the victory celebrations going to take place in Tehran?

In all likelihood, the Revolutionary Guards are already festooning the city, in anticipation of the West’s caving in to Iran’s nuclear weapons development program.

What we will see when the agreement is finally produced tonight or tomorrow is hundreds of pages of details all of which are meant to obscure the facts that the Iranian program remains intact, the West will help Iran build more nuclear reactors, and the economic sanctions are on the way to being finished.

Kerry and Obama will proclaim that the agreement is “historic” and that it will provide a “robust” inspection protocol, but we all know that the agreement is nothing short of outright appeasement–and the Iranians will violate every detail of it.

**So, for a change of pace, what is it about Israeli insects?

Today we learn that BioBee, a company operated out of Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu is sending bees to Japan. It seems that Japan has been hit by a dramatic reduction in bees due to the use of pesticides.

This announcement comes on the heels of another announcement last month that BioBee has sent 400 million sterile flies to Croatia and Bosnia. The idea is that the sterile bees will mate with the “bad bees” that are ravaging crops in those two countries. BioBee has already been doing this form of pest management in Israel with some success.

Your humble servant says “with some success” because some areas of Israel–such as here in Ashdod–have been overrun with flies and mosquitoes this summer.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Wherever you look these days, cartoonists are using humor to fight the forces that are arrayed against Israel. For example, the following cartoon by “The Mike Report” is a brilliant comment on the way that J Street continues to try to slime its way into Jewish communities and federations across the United States:

The Israel Cartoon Project was created by cartoonists Uri Fink, Shai Charka, Yossi Klar and Asaf Finkelstein.

And its mission (from its Facebook page):

“TICP (The Israel Cartoon Project) is a platform for leading Israeli cartoonists and pro-Israeli cartoonists from around the world. The project was created with one goal in mind; telling the world what Israel is really all about.

Many Israelis and indeed, many Jews, encounter complex advocacy challenges in the face of global Anti-Israeli Campaigns, TICP was created as a result of the need for a creative new approach to those issues.

One of our main challenges is creating as much ‘buzz’ as the other side in light of the fact that we are heavily outnumbered. We strive to increase the reach of Israeli advocacy and its ability to captivate and engage different target audience groups, giving Israel a chance for a fair fight in that arena.”

This project is one worthy of your attention, dear reader. Make a habit of visiting their site and sharing your thoughts.
