St. Sgt. Benjamin Yaakovovich ( 1996-2015). May this soldier of Israel be forever blessed.
Border Guards’ Staff Sergeant Benjamin Yaakovovich died last night after a five day fight for his life at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. St. Sgt. Yaakovovich was gruesomely run over in the “bulldozer attack” in Halhoul last Wednesday. He is survived by his his parents, two sisters, and a brother. May the memory of this brave son of Israel never be forgotten.
***One piece of good news yesterday . . .
20-year-old IDF Sgt. Orel Azuri has awakened after being unconscious for 13 days in Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer.
Azuri was critically wounded in another “Bulldozer” attack near Gan Shmuel last month. Yesterday she made these comments to Yedioth Aharonot: “I was unconscious for 13 days, sedated and ventilated, teetering on the brink between life and death. A miracle just happened to me.”
What does she want to do now that she is recovering?
Return to her post as a combatant in the Air Force Aerial Defense Command.
Kol hakevod to Sgt. Orel Azuri!
***Palestinian terror continued unabated yesterday. Where is the international outrage? Where are the condemnations from self-proclaimed “human rights” organizations? Where are the Security Council resolutions and European Union declarations?
–A missile fired by Palestinians in Gaza struck the Sha’ar Hanegev region of southern Israel at 7:29 pm last night. No Israelis were physically wounded, but MADA treated several people for shock.
–Another “bulldozer attack” like the one that killed St. Sgt. Yaakovovich took place at the Tapuach Junction. 4 young Israelis including a pregnant woman were wounded, two remain in critical condition this morning. The terrorist was shot and killed.
Two stabbing attacks occurred:
One took place at the entrance to Beitar Illit where a female terrorist attempted to stab a security guard to death (see the unbelievable video). She was shot and later died.
The other happened at Nebi Saleh where a man was stabbed in the stomach but managed to drive himself to an army checkpoint. He is in serious condition this morning. The terrorist turned himself in to the PLO who are refusing to turn him over to Israeli authorities. After all, it was the PLO that encouraged him to go kill Israelis.
There were three thwarted stabbing attacks at a checkpoint in Hebron, at Mishor Givat Adumim, and in Kfar Manda.
Palestinian Molotov attacks took place at: Beit Arieh in Samaria, Ma’ale Hebron Hills (causing a large fire), Hebron, Ofra, Talmonim, and Kiryat Arba.
Palestinian “rock” attacks took place at: Hebron Hills, Ras al-Amud in Jerusalem, Marda, Halhoul, the Shuafat station of the Jerusalem Light Rail, Givat Assaf, Bethlehem (bus driver wounded), Beit Ummar (bus passenger wounded), Beit El, and the Hussan Bypass Road (motorist wounded).
***The grim statistics . . .
In the last 40 days:
12 Israelis have been killed by Palestinian terrorists.
170 Israelis have been wounded. 21 of these remain in serious condition or worse in Israeli hospitals.
Of the 170 wounded, 63 Israelis were stabbed, 12 were “run over”, and 7 were shot. Others were wounded in “rock”, Molotov, IED, and other types of attacks.
***The wet statistics . . .
It has been an extraordinarily wet Fall here with rainfall amounts greatly in excess of normal along the coast and inland. How much in excess you may ask?
For example, Tel Aviv has had 170 mm of rain which is 377% of normal; Bet Shemesh has had 108 mm which is 253% of normal; Ra’anana has had 239 mm which is 427% of normal; Jerusalem has had 53 mm which is 166% of normal; and Arad has had 36 mm which is 260% of normal.
In Israel, the more rain the better–though with all the desalination taking place here now, there is no shortage of water anywhere.
TODAY’S BLOG:
At a time when Israel is under siege from Palestinian terrorism, and the brave Israeli citizens out in Judea and Samaria are being attacked day in and day out, it is important to know that we have not been abandoned.
And not only not abandoned, but also actively supported by extremely courageous groups.
One of which is HaYovel.
HaYovel is a Christian-Zionist organization based in the United States which sends hundreds of volunteers into Samaria to help Jewish farmers tend their fields in front-line communities. They have been very active during the last few months.
Since they began their work several years ago, HaYovel has brought more that 1,700 volunteers from 16 different countries who have harvested more than 2000 tons of grapes and olives. In the process, they have pumped at least $22,000,000 into the Israeli economy.
One of the leaders of HaYovel is Zac Waller who noted in a recent interview that he believes that the work they do on the ground in Samaria to help Israelis is essential to help restore the Land of Israel. By doing so, Waller says that HaYovel affirms “that God is real, and that the Bible is true.”
A song writer and singer, Waller commented about his latest song which has gone viral on the internet (Click here and scroll down to the video clip “Restoration”):
“I really wanted to write a song that conveyed a vivid depiction of Israel’s miraculous transition from desolation to restoration. My hands-on experiences in the agriculture of Samaria for the last ten years has incredibly strengthened my faith. I want others around the world to experience that same strengthening that I feel.”
Waller has a message to other supporters of Israel:
“Get involved! . . . Don’t sit around waiting for something . . . Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! Find a pro-Israel organization that you can support, and give financially and/or volunteer. Educate yourself as an ambassador for Israel and start talking about what’s happening! Now is the time. Don’t wait a second longer!”
Your humble servant could not say it better himself, and thanks HaYovel for its courage in doing what few others are willing to do!
