***Palestinian terror today . . .
On a Sunday which has seen more than 30 Palestinian stabbing, “rock”, and “Molotov” attacks against Israeli children, women, and men, the two most egregious assaults were:
–at 12:32 pm, a Palestinian stabbing was thwarted the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. A terrorist was shot but not killed (unfortunately), as she attempted to stab Border Guards.
–12:20 pm, a Palestinian stabbed an English tourist between Tekoa and Beit Sahour. The tourist was seriously wounded. Police rushed to ludicrously claim that the attack was not “nationalistically motivated.”
***The Duma fiasco continues . . .
Large protests continue in the northern Jerusalem suburb of Ramot near the home of the head of Israel’s Shin Bet security service.
The protests concern the continued illegal detention of Jewish teenagers for their alleged involvement in the Duma arson that resulted in the deaths of three members of the Dawabshe family.
The latest development is that lawyers representing three of the minors have succeeded in getting a court order for the immediate release to “house arrest” of two of the minors on the grounds that their detentions were not legally extended five days ago (they have been in “detention/prison” for 25 days without being charged, without being able to meet face to face with legal representation, and without access to their families).
This leaves one minor still in detention along with two older Israelis including Meir Ettinger–none of whom have been charged with anything.
Ironically, Shin Bet announced today that “progress” has been in the investigation.
Sure thing. After 25 days of illegal confinement and “interrogations”, “progress has been made” in extracting information from Jewish minors.
Shin Bet–normally one of Israel’s most outstanding security services–should be ashamed.
***The city of Jerusalem begins to fortify its bus stops . . .
Tonight, the municipality of Jerusalem will begin fortifying 300 bus stops in the capital. Concrete barriers will be placed around each bus stop to make ramming attacks less possible.
The total cost for the project is 2 million shekels ($500,000).
***The European Union continues funding illegal Palestinian building in Area C of Judea and Samaria. Area C, you will remember, is an area under Israeli administrative and security control.
It is simply amazing how the Israeli government is doing nothing to stop the massive illegal Palestinian construction taking place–nowhere more so than along Highway 1 from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea.
Numerous structures are being put up everyday–structures that are brazenly festooned with EU flags. Most of these are being built for Bedouins who illegally live in the area.
Why doesn’t Israel crack down on this building?
TODAY’S BLOG:
Incoming missile alarms are sounding at this moment throughout northern Israel from Nahariya to Rosh Hanikra. An undetermined number of Katyusha missiles have been launched at Israel by Hezbollah in Lebanon.
These missiles are no surprise. Hezbollah announced earlier today that it would retaliate for Israel’s targeted elimination yesterday of Sami Kuntar–the Lebanese Druze who killed an Israeli family in Nahariya during a terrorist attack 36 years ago. In that butchery, Kuntar killed 4-year-old Einat Haran by smashing her head to pieces with the butt of his gun. This came after he executed her father with a shot to the head.
Disgustingly, Kuntar was released in an 2006 exchange in which Israel recovered the bodies of two soldiers murdered by Hezbollah in return for Kuntar and 4 other Lebanese prisoners.
Upon his release, he was immediately embraced by Hezbollah who put him in command of various forces.
In the last few months, Israel has made a concerted effort to get Kuntar, especially after he began organizing terror attacks against Israel from Syria. It was hoped that Kuntar had been killed when a Hezbollah-Iranian convoy was struck in Syria several months ago, but Kuntar escaped.
Finally, his luck ran out at 10:15 pm last night when the residential building in which he was meeting with 7 other terrorists in the Jaramana neighborhood of Damascus was leveled by 4 missiles fired by two Israeli aircraft.
So ends the saga of Kuntar (at least until his children become terrorists).
He should have been killed long ago.
