UPDATES 7:00 pm, Israel time

***Palestinian terror in the last two days.

Saturday and Sunday have seen more than 50 Palestinian terrorist attacks targeting Israelis men, women, and children. Beginning Saturday morning and continuing until this moment, here are some of the worst Palestinian terror assaults:

At 7:05 am (Saturday), two Palestinian terrorists attempted to attack soldiers at the Bequaot Checkpoint in the Jordan Valley. No soldiers were wounded. The terrorists were shot and killed.

At 2:21 pm, IDF soldiers patrolling in Issawiya were hit by IEDs. Fortunately no one was wounded. The terrorists escaped.

At 7:55 pm, terrorists shattered windows on the Jerusalem Light Rail traumatizing numerous passengers.

At 2:18 pm (Sunday), Palestinian terrorists wounded passengers on a bus in the Mt. Scopus tunnel.

At 4:51 pm (two hours ago), terrorists threw a pipe bomb at IDF troops in Hebron. Fortunately no soldiers were wounded.

***Two terror cells have been discovered over the weekend.

One cell had as its target PM Netanyahu. Apparently, the plan was to blow up a stage on which Netanyahu will be speaking later in the month.

In the past few hours, another cell targeting Israeli motorists on Route 35 has been disrupted.

Both cells were established and manned by Hamas.

***In the meantime, Hamas has stepped up firing “experimental” missiles into the Mediterranean.

In the last 24 hours, 18 missiles have been fired.

***Water has been pouring into the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) from tributaries at the rate of 120 mm per day during the last week–a rate that has not been seen in the last 20 years.

Israel's beautiful Kinneret--on the rise but for how long?

As a result the lake has risen to 212.92 meters and has exceeded the lower red line. The good news is that water is no longer being pumped out of the Kinneret for use in Israel because of the increasing use of desalinated water; however, water is being pumped out of the Kinneret in ever-increasing quantities for use by individuals and farmers in Jordan.

You may recall that Jordanian use of Kinneret water is a primary component of the Dead Sea to Red Sea project that calls for Israel to buy “expensive” desalinated water for use in the Negev from the Jordanians–in exchange for the cheaper Kinneret water.

***Israel helping others . . .

IsraAID, which normally can be found assisting people in developing country amidst natural disasters, has been hard at work this week in England helping the people of Yorkshire emerge from disastrous flooding in the area.

The following is taken from an Arutz Sheva report on the work of IsraAID:

An Israeli humanitarian agency has been lauded by locals for its work in flood-stricken northern England.

IsraAid – whose volunteers are more used to tackling natural disaster-stricken countries in the Third World – turned its attention to Yorkshire after hearing of the devastation wrought to local communities and businesses.

The agency’s efforts were featured in a short BBC piece, as one local tradeswoman hailed the Israelis’ dedication and hard work.

Meanwhile, the Israeli relief effort received enthusiastic praise from the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Judith Chapman, who lauded the “incredible initiative.”

“I find it heartwarming to see that a delegation from Israel is prepared to drop everything in order to reach out to those in Yorkshire who have been effected by this recent terrible crisis and offer professional aid and support and their technical expertise,” Chapman said.

“When we hear about the dreadfully disturbing events taking place worldwide then this humanitarian act puts everything into perspective and restores one’s faith in mankind.”

Three cheers to IsraAid!

***The first F-35 rolls off the production line . . . sort of . . .

It would be more accurate to say that the first “body” of an F-35 destined for the Israeli Air Force has been finished. Now work begins on the all-important internal electronic systems.

So far, the Israel Defense Ministry has bought 33 “Type A” F35s–scheduled to be delivered between 2016 and 2021. What distinguishes the Type A from other types is that it does not have the ability to complete vertical takeoffs.

Each plane will cost Israel $110 million dollars. The plane has been beset by problems and roundly criticized by pilots who say that it is not nearly as maneuverable as the older F 15 and F 16. Israel remains sold on the plane; however, and sees it as the central component in Israel’s future air force.
