UPDATES: 7:00 pm Israel time
Palestinian terror so far today.
A thwarted Palestinian stabbing attack at the Ni’lin checkpoint: two knife-armed terrorists were captured.
An attempted infiltration at Yitzhar: two Palestinian terrorists were spotted climbing from Hawara toward Mitzpeh Yitzhar. They were later captured in Hawara.
Numerous “rock” and Molotov attacks: for example, terrorists assaulted an Israeli bus on the Gush Etzion Road near Hebron. Passengers were traumatized, and the bus was badly damaged. Other attacks have taken place at such places as Qabatiya, Bikadidh, and Kedumim.
Hamas reports that another two terrorists have died in a tunnel collapse. Also more Hamasniks were injured yesterday when a roof full of people collapsed on top of a funeral parade for terrorists who had previously died in a tunnel collapse. An unknown number of people were killed and wounded.
–>Good news: Mandy Rivkin’s condition improves.
You may remember, dear reader, that there was a horrific stabbing last week at Givat Ze’ev. One of those attacked, Mandy Rivkin, was transported to Sha’are Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem in extremely grave condition.
Up until this morning, Rivkin has been in a doctor-induced coma. The good news is that he awakened today and talked to his wife.
–>European hypocrisy incarnate.
All Israel ever hears from the Europe are bogus complaints about “human rights” violations. And not only “human rights” violations supposedly involving the Palestinians, but also supposed violations involving the some 75,000 “refugees” from Africa who are now living in Israel that Israel is attempting to send back to their home countries.
Here are some statistics on how many “refugees” were deported in 2015 from just five European countries:
France–15,485 deported; 14,111 left “voluntarily”. Germany–20,888 deported; 37,220 left “voluntarily”. Austria–3,300 deported; 5,100 left “voluntarily”. Belgium–5,894 deported; 4,178 left “voluntarily”. The Netherlands–4,400 deported; 11,550 left “voluntarily”.
By the way, one of Israel’s chief critics, Sweden, announced its intention this week to deport 60,000 to 80,000 immigrant refugees “who have not yet completed the process of absorption.”
What is the old expression?
People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
–>Yehuda Weinstein, Israel’s abominable, extreme left-wing Attorney General, sums up his term in office.
In a rather amazing interview yesterday on the occasion of his leaving office in a few days, Weinstein crowed about how he has become the de facto dictator of the country:
“I can dictate to any civil servant, government minister, and the prime minister what they must do.”
How we ever got to a point where so much power was subsumed into the hands of Weinstein should be a case study in craven politicians. Throughout the last seven years, no one wanted to take responsibility for anything; Weinstein became the person who made the final decision. Finally, it reached a point where no one dared oppose Weinstein.
TODAY’S BLOG:
Have Israeli leaders lost their collective minds?
Yesterday, the IDF COGAT unit revealed that in recent months, it has thwarted 847 Hamas attempts to smuggle rocket-making propellant and materials, explosive devices, observation cameras, and other items into Gaza. 107 of these attempted smugglings occurred at the Erez Border Crossing, and 740 at the Kerem Shalom Crossing.
Yet in the same press release yesterday, the IDF COGAT unit bragged that it has issued 100,000 entry permits for Palestinian Gazans for “trade, medical treatments, and prayer at the Al-Aksa Mosque in Jerusalem”–even though it knows that Hamas is using the permits to smuggle contraband into Gaza.
Insane.
But wait. There is more.
Also yesterday, speaking to the Association of Contractors and Builders in Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, and the Negev, Avigdor Yitzhaki, head of the Housing Ministry of Finance, announced that the government plans to increase the number of Palestinian construction workers in Israel. In particular, the plan is to bring “tens of thousands” of Palestinians from Gaza into Israel.
Can you believe this?
Tens of thousands of Hamas men from Gaza into Israel?
Yitzhaki was followed on stage by Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon who revealed that he met with the Palestinian Foreign Minister and the Palestinian Minister of Economic Affairs last week. Both of whom, Kahlon crowed, support the plan.
You think?
More than this, Kahlon revealed that the government has gone so far as to give money to the IDF to construct new “entry and exit aisles” for Gazan workers to enter and exit Israel each day.
Kahlon added: “We want to make it easy for workers to have transitions in the morning and to return in the afternoon when they are exhausted.”
Unbelievable. Israel wants to make it easy for poor, exhausted Palestinians.
At a time when poor, exhausted Palestinians are savagely stabbing and shooting Israelis everyday and daily declaring their readiness for war, Israel is going to bring tens of thousands more Hamasniks into the country.
Total insanity.
