UPDATES 7:00 pm Israel time:
***A selection of Palestinian terror today:
During the afternoon, IDF troops were attacked by terrorists near Issawiya. No Israelis were wounded. Shortly before that, IDF troops opened fired near Al Karara, east of Khan Younis on the Gaza border, to stop an infiltration attempt by Palestinian terrorists. In the morning, 4 Gazan terrorists were captured on their way into Israel.
***Other snippets concerning relations with our “neighbors” . . .
—Israeli senior officials have confirmed that cement shipments to Gaza will resume next week.
—Turkish officials have indicated that in the absence of a lifting of the maritime embargo of Gaza, they will temporarily settle for the solving of Gaza’s water and electrical problems as terms for reconciling with Israel.
—PLO spokesman Saeb Erekat ranted again yesterday about the necessity of “boycotting the apartheid Zionist state.”
***As the week long Passover holiday came to an end yesterday in Israel, it was reported that 1.2 million Israelis traveled “to nature” during the holiday.
Parks, beaches, and hiking trails were all overcrowded to the extreme.
Nowhere worse than along the shores of the Kineret (Sea of Galilee) where tens of thousands of visitors left tens of thousands of pounds of garbage–in what can only be described as a scandalous disregard of the environment.
The cleanup has begun today.
TODAY’S BLOG:
Do you want a picture of what has gone wrong in Europe (and elsewhere)?
As the Jewish exodus from Europe continues to Israel, Australia, Canada, and the United States, we had some pictures from Tehran yesterday that sum up the problem in a nutshell.
Ironically, considering the recent Muslim terror in Brussels, Belgian Senate President Christine Defraigne traipsed off to Iran–the leading terror exporter in the world.
There she embraced (figuratively, of course) Iranian president Rouhani. But only after she dressed appropriately so as not to offend her Iranian hosts:
What continues to astonish your humble servant time and again is how western leaders jump through hundreds of hoops not to offend “the sensibilities” of terrorist ayatollahs and monarchs.
And how do terrorist ayatollahs and monarchs respond?
By increasing their export of terrorism into those western countries.
In a larger sense, what is it in the sick, western psyche that thinks that Muslim sensibilities outweigh the sensibilities of everyone else? And what is it in that psyche that causes Western leaders to believe that the only way to deal with Islam is to kowtow to it and appease it?
This pusillanimous consideration of Muslim sensibilities and appeasement of terrorist Islamic regimes is a tragically nauseating commentary on our times.
