UPDATES 6:00 pm Israel time:

…Palestinian terrorism so far today…

Israeli intelligence officials report that Islamic State fighters have recently entered Gaza through the tunnels leading from Egypt into the Hamas Palestinian state.

…Palestinian terrorism yesterday…

Palestinian terror continues at a rate of 20 to 30 incidents per day. Thursday saw rioting, Molotov, and “rock” attacks at such locations as the Auja Valley, Hizma, Nabi Saleh, Efrat, Road 443, Jerusalem, Beit Ummar, El Khader, Al-Ram, Issawiya, Mt. Hebron, and Bethany.

***Another installment in the U.N. Theater of the Absurd…

The U.N. Committee Against Torture, which operates under the umbrella of the abominable Human Rights Council, condemned Israel today for using excessive force against Palestinians. It especially noted that Israeli forces use “excessive force” in breaking up Palestinian “demonstrations” and restricting the free movement of Gazans out of Gaza.

On the subject of breaking up Palestinian “demonstrations”, one supposes that the U.N. would prefer that Israel let Palestinian rioters rain down “rocks”, Molotovs, and IEDs on Israeli civilians and soldiers. After all, why should anyone care if Israelis are wounded or killed?

And on the subject of free movement: Israel ferried another 300 Hamas members to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem this morning so that they can worship, march, and “demonstrate” on the Temple Mount. In addition, all of Israel’s crossings into Gaza remain open, constantly ferrying those in medical need in Gaza to Israeli hospitals.

By the way, the Egyptians suddenly closed the Rafah Crossing from Gaza into Egypt this morning after it had been open for two days.

TODAY’S BLOG:

This arch-terrorist is not smiling anymore.

This arch-terrorist is not smiling anymore.

A very good thing happened yesterday to a very bad man. He was killed.

Information continues swirling around the killing of Hezbollah’s top commander in Syria, Mustafa Badreddine (also known Zulfiqar, Sami Issa, Elias Saab or by the Arab spelling of his last name, Bader al-Din). He was apparently killed when the building he was in just outside of Damascus was hit by a missile strike.

Badreddine, who was the brother-in-law, cohort, and successor of Imad Mughniyeh (who was killed by Israel in 2008), was widely known as an expert in explosives and even had developed his own signature bomb by adding gas to explosive materials to create a more powerful blast.

Badreddine used his bombs in numerous locations, most notably in the:

*1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 Americans–he supposedly watched the detonation from the rooftop of a nearby building with Mughniyeh.

*the 1983 attacks in Kuwait that involved blasts outside the U.S. and French embassies.

*the 2005 assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri who was a staunch opponent of Syrian President Assad. An international court issued a warrant for his arrest for the murder, but Badreddine was never caught.

Apparently, Badreddine was in a building in which a number of Iranian military leaders were also staying. Iranian television is reporting today that Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani survived the blast.  At least 5 other Hezbollah members were killed.

As is usual in the Arab world whenever a terrorist is killed, all fingers first pointed at Israel. This time the accusation was leveled by the Hezbollah Al-Manar TV station whose broadcaster declared: “This is an open war and we should not preempt the investigation but certainly Israel is behind this.” The Lebanese TV station al-Mayadeen was more pointed, saying that Badreddine was “killed in an Israeli attack.”

It should be noted that not everyone in Lebanon is upset about Badreddine’s death. A newspaper article in a Lebanese paper belonging to the Hariri family happily noted that “Badreddine has gone home to hell.”

There are other theories being floated today to account for Badreddine’s death such as:

–he was killed in the fighting in Khan Tuman.

–he was killed by Hezbollah and Iranian forces because of an internal dispute.

–he died from a terminal illness.

And there are also reports that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has “gone crazy” and begun arresting members of the Hezbollah inner guard for fear that it has been infiltrated.

However he was killed or died, Mustafa Badreddine’s death is a very good thing.
