UPDATES 7 pm Israel time
…Palestinian terror today…
Terrorists opened fire at Israelis near Ma’ale Shomron at around 4:30 pm this afternoon. No one was wounded; troops are still in pursuit.
There have been a number of Molotov firebomb attacks: at 6:55 am, terrorists threw 7 Molotovs at police in Aisooya; at 9:01 am, terrorists assaulted an IDF post in Hevron with Molotovs; at 11:00 am, terrorists throwing firebombs ignited a fire at Kochav Yaakov; at 4:24 pm, terrorists attacked soldiers stationed at Rachel’s Tomb.
Palestinian terrorists have attacked Israeli motorists and soldiers with “rocks” at Bethany, Savannah, Malek Benjamin, on Route 443, at the Shuafat Light Rail train station in Jerusalem, and at the Al Khader Junction in Gush Etzion.
…Palestinian terror yesterday…
Terrorists carried out a shooting attack on a bus near Gush Etzion; threw Molotovs at Al-Fawwar; and assaulted Israelis with “rocks” at Sair near Mt. Hevron, Nahalain, Qadum, Talmon, Sur Baher, El Arub, Silwan, and Rachel’s Tomb among other places.
…The Arabization of Jerusalem…
An Israeli band invited to play at the King David Hotel today met with egregious discrimination at the hands of the hotel management.
Before the program started, the manager demanded that band members remove their kipas (yarmulkes); they eventually compromised by putting on baseball caps to cover the kipas. However, when the hotel director insisted during the show that one band member remove his pants so that the director could see if he was wearing tzizit, the band quit playing.
Why did the hotel director engage in such discriminatory behavior? Because most of the workers at the hotel are Arabs and the director of the hotel did not want to offend their “sensibilities.”
The director later commented: “I demanded an Arab band tonight, I came down and saw players with kipas. Does that make sense?”
For all of you thinking about traveling to Israel this summer, you might think about this before making a reservation at the King David Hotel.
…Rabbi Yehuda Glick joins the Knesset…
Temple Mount activist Glick will be entering the Knesset tomorrow following Moshe Ya’alon’s resignation.
Glick stressed today that he is a team player and will respect the restrictions placed on Knesset legislators going to the Mount. On the other hand, he commented:
“I will work to make Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, the focus of world peace and promote justice and peace, and I will raise the joy of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the center of Zion and the Temple Mount is the center of Jerusalem.
…Breaking the Silence remains under investigation…
As you may not know, the abominable organization Breaking the Silence remains at trial for disclosing classified information and putting soldiers at risk.
You will recall that Breaking the Silence pays disgruntled soldiers to travel the world trashing their fellow soldiers.
Today, the State Attorney’s Office demanded that the Court force Breaking the Silence to provide the names of the “anonymous soldiers” who supposedly gave “testimonies” against the IDF.
For its part, Breaking the Silence replied that to provide the names would close down the organization because they “would be unable to collect evidence.”
Let’s hope the Court grants the prosecution’s request.
TODAY’S BLOG
It all began two weeks ago with a throwaway comment by President Obama’s senior advisor Ben Rhodes during his startling interview with David Samuels in the New York Times magazine section.
Crowing about the way that he and Obama deceptively and easily manipulated the liberal media in the U.S. concerning the proposed Iran deal, Rhodes commented:
“We created an echo chamber. They [clueless reporters] were saying things that validated what we had given them to say.”
Then Rhodes added:
“We had test drives to know who was going to be able to carry our message effectively, and how to use outside groups like Ploughshares, the Iran Project and whomever else. So we knew the tactics that worked.”
When Rhodes referred to “Ploughshares”, he was actually referring to “Ploughshares Fund”, an organization that derives most of its approximately $8,000,000 in annual revenue from unnamed “Contributions, Gifts, and Grants” (see Charity Navigator).
According to its website, “Ploughshares Fund is committed to investing in the smartest people with the best ideas to mitigate and ultimately eliminate this global threat, and build a more peaceful future. Our grantees are on the cutting edge, developing fresh, innovative strategies to promote peace and security and create a world in which nuclear weapons can never be used.”
To do this, it supplies “grants” to various organizations.
To help pass the Iran Appeasement Deal, the group gave grants to such organizations as National Public Radio (NPR) and J Street.
Yes, you read that correctly.
J Street.
It should come as no surprise that the virulently anti-Israel J Street received $576,000 to attack anyone who was against the Iranian deal–including PM Netanyahu and Israelis.
Paid mercenaries devoid of even a semblance of ethics. Paid mercenaries operating at the whim of Ben Rhodes and the Obama White House. Paid mercenaries creating an echo chamber that did nothing except validate what President Obama wanted them to say.
Paid, pathetic, mercenaries.
The only question that remains is where exactly did the $576,000 come from? Was this American taxpayer money funneled to Ploughshares Fund through the White House (Rhodes) or State Department (Kerry)?
Stay tuned.
