UPDATES 7 pm Israel time
…The aftermath of the Tel Aviv terror event…
Funerals attended by thousands took place in Ashkelon and Tel Aviv today. Your humble servant doesn’t have the words to express the depth of tragedy felt by each family.
The lives of the families whose loved ones were killed have been changed forever:
It has been the same story for Jews throughout the centuries:
Four Israelis remain in the hospital at this hour. The most serious of the wounded has been sedated and on a respirator since the murders and is listed in “critical” condition. Another victim is in “moderate” condition, and the two others are expected to be released today.
…Palestinian terror so far today…
A Palestinian stabbing attempt targeting an IDF soldier was thwarted a little more than an hour ago (at 5:28 pm) at a junction near Shechem in Samaria. The terrorist from Awarta was shot in the stomach. No Israelis were wounded.
A Border Guard was wounded early this morning when he was attacked near the Temple Mount.
…Palestinian terror yesterday…
At 11:26 pm, there was an attempted bulldozer attack in Samaria on the road to Hawara. A terrorist attempted to run over soldiers of the Samaria Brigade.
A stabbing took place near the Arches Hotel on the Mt. of Olives.
Palestinians further celebrated Ramadan by attacking Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs at Ras al-Amud, Beit Horon, Hebron, Husan, Abu Dis, Sa’ir, Ayda, Yatta, and Government House in Jerusalem.
In Qalandiya and Issawiya, there were more than 10 separate attacks.
At Al-Khader, an Israeli woman riding on a bus on Route 40 was seriously wounded.
…A new restriction on Israeli Jews…
In an astonishing incident today, a group of young Jewish men who were hiking between Moshav Mei Ami and the Israeli-Arab town of Umm El-Fahm were taken into custody by Israeli police.
No charges were filed, but when the men asked why they were being detained, the police responded:
“It is forbidden for Jewish groups to hike near Arab villages.”
TODAY’S BLOG:
What is it about Israel that causes mass insanity?
From British news headlines after the Tel Aviv attack blaming the attack on orthodox Jews to a Fox News anchor attempting to find legitimization for the murders by finding the “motivation” of the killers to a CNN article questioning that any terror had taken place, we seem beset by insanity all around.
This morning, the High Commissioner for “Human Rights” (an insanely ridiculous post) of the United Nations (itself an insane organization), Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein (can you imagine a more insane choice for High Commissioner), condemned Israel’s revocation of Ramadan passes for Palestinians to enter Israel following the Tel Aviv murders as “prohibited collective punishment.”
But nowhere has insanity been more in evidence than in Washington, D. C. where the U.S. State Department issued a statement last night warning Israel “to avoid increasing tensions with Palestinians” after Wednesday night’s terror attack in Tel Aviv.
Palestinians slaughter Israelis in a Tel Aviv restaurant and “Israel should not increase tensions with the Palestinians”?
Insane.
This State Department comment came hours after another State Department spokesman, Mark Toner, somberly blathered this:
“We understand the Israeli government’s desire to protect its citizens … and we strongly support that right, but we would hope that any measures it takes are designed to also take into consideration the impact on Palestinian citizens that are trying to go about their daily lives.”
Palestinian citizens trying to go about their daily lives.
Insane.
Can’t anyone see that Palestinians going about their daily lives means shooting Israelis to death on Wednesday, trying to stab and run over us on Thursday, trying to stab us again this afternoon–and assaulting us with “rocks” and Molotovs everyday?
I guess not.
