When Will Israel Be Respected By The World?

The United Nations Needs Your Donation:

The United Nations announced today that the poor Palestinians need $547 million dollars for 2017. 52% of this money is “needed” by UNRWA, the abominable organization that does little except perpetuate itself and in the process, Palestinian dependency.

The breakdown of how the money supposedly will be spent is fascinating:

$300 million is for providing “food security” needed because “Israel restricts food supplies”; $104 million is for “housing solutions” to problems caused by “illegal Israeli demolition of houses” as well as the continued rebuilding in Gaza necessitated by Israel’s “illegal war in Gaza”; $54 million is to be spent on “social counseling” of Palestinians “injured by Israeli war crimes”, and the list goes on and on.

What the money will actually be spent on is the UNRWA administration of programs and the lining of PLO and Hamas pockets. It is a perfect example of why “financial aid” to the United Nations should immediately be terminated.

TODAY’S BLOG:

When will Israel be respected by the world?

In the first step of what promises to be an long process, the Knesset Constitution Committee held its first hearing yesterday concerning the annexation of Ma’aleh Adumim.

Maaleh Adumim is a large area, home to more than 40,000 residents, located between Jerusalem and Jericho.

Ma’ale Adumim is a large area, home to more than 40,000 residents, located between Jerusalem and Jericho/Dead Sea.

It is always assumed that the annexation process is the brainchild of Naftali Bennett of the Jewish Home party, and it is true that Bennett is one of the leading champions of annexation. Nevertheless, the hearing yesterday came at the impetus of the Land of Israel Caucus in the Knesset, a caucus led by Likud legislator Yoav Kisch who said this after the meeting:

“Israel is on the line. We examined what the contours and where Israel will be sovereign. There will be difficulties at home and abroad.”

Just how difficult the process will be “at home” was quickly illustrated shortly thereafter the meeting when Tzahi Hanegbi, one of PM Netanyahu’s closest confidants, railed against those pushing annexation by calling them “rioters” who are recklessly trying to change the status quo. As we have already said, many of those “rioters” are Hanegbi’s fellow Likud party members.

Later yesterday evening, Naftali Bennett had this to say in a speech before the World Zionist Organization:

“In the last two weeks, Israel received two blows: members of the UN Security Council raised their hands in favor of a resolution that the entire Old City, the Mount of Olives, City of David, and the rest of Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley, are all illegally occupied territory.

Our nation is almost 4,000 years years old, and we have had our capital of Jerusalem for 3000 years. Who can say that our home and our capital is occupied? . . .

Many people have been wishing us a Happy Hanukkah, but when they do so, do they understand where Judah Maccabee was fighting? Did he fight on Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv or along the ridges of Judea leading to Jerusalem–which the international community now calls ‘the occupied territories’?

The world thinks of Judah Maccabee as a folklore symbol. But he is not a merely a symbol; the country is real. Anyone who lives thousands of miles from here does not understand who lives in Jerusalem, Ma’ale Adumim, and Hevron. But I don’t blame the people around the world; I only blame ourselves because many of us are afraid to recognize our absolute right to the Land of Israel.

Let’s go back to the famous Mattathias who was fighting for dignity and freedom, not looking for love from the world. . .  When the people of Israel will say that the land of Israel belongs to the people of Israel then, and only then,  will we connect our people and get the respect from the world.”

Well said, Naftali.
