Quote of the Day:
“Hamas believes in cooperation with all the countries that support the rights of the Palestinian people and with the international movements that oppose the Zionist occupation, especially the BDS Movement.”
Statement issued by Palestinian terrorist Hamas
Hamas, BDS, anti-Israel countries, international movements: all the entities that “oppose the Zionist occupation” are one and the same. By the way, the leader of the Hamas terrorist cell that had plotted to kidnap “a Jew” during Chanukah was indicted today on specific charges that his group planned to kidnap the head of the IDF Arab Media Department Avichai Adaree, and kidnap and murder Likud Knessset member Rabbi Yehuda Glick.

Israelis call for Obama to return his Nobel Peace Prize . . .
Is there anyone left in the world who does not think that the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to former U.S. President Obama was a farce of the first order.
Israeli officials led by Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid called on former U.S. President Obama to return that Peace Prize following revelations that the Obama Administration spent years protecting Hezbollah in order to push through the Iranian Nuclear Weapons Appeasement Agreement.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Protecting Hezbollah.
How did the Obama Administration do that? By shutting down efforts to thwart Hezbollah’s worldwide drug trade.
Just incredible.
By the way, who was party to this abomination? The other senior government official who was in the loop was none other than Secretary of State John Kerry–who spends his time these days traveling the world bashing Israel.
A law whose time has come . . .
As we in Israel all know, the Knesset as well as district courts and local courts have all been rendered utterly irrelevant by an Israel Supreme Court/High Court of Justice run wild.
As soon as the Knesset passes any law or a local court makes any decision, it is challenged in Israel’s High Court which more often than not rules against the law or decision. Israel law permits such challenges to take place instantaneously by direct petition to the Court.
It is a totally ridiculous situation.
The Jewish Home (Beit Yehudi) party in the form of Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked and Education Minister Naftali Bennett proposed a new law yesterday that would be a Basic Law and therefore unable to be ruled invalid by the Supreme Court.
The new law contains two main provisions:
*the Supreme Court would only be able to rule a Knesset law invalid with a panel of nine judges who declare it invalid with a 2/3 majority. Currently, panels of only 3 of the 15 judges can make such declarations.
*if the Supreme Court strikes down a Knesset-passed law, a vote of 61 Knesset legislators can overturn the Supreme Court decision.
As you can imagine, the Israeli “left” has already gone wild in opposition to this attempt to insert sanity into the Israel legal process. And one can expect that the opposition to grow as NGOs and foreign governments chime in.
The final question will simply be whether PM Netanyahu has the spine to put Coalition weight behind the proposal and ignore the accusations that will fly his way.
It is hard to describe what the wonderful impact of the passage of this law would have on Israel. The road to passage will be long and difficult, but at least it has started.

An Exercise In Pathetic Diplomatic Flatulence:
The Delusionary U.N. Vote Tomorrow
The U.N. General Assembly will vote tomorrow on a resolution to condemn the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel. The resolution will state that the “status” of Jerusalem has yet to be determined.
Of course, the vote is a foregone conclusion and is wonderful moment for world anti-Semitism to once again rear its ugly head.
Also of course, the resolution will have absolutely no effect on anything. Jerusalem will forever remain the eternal capital of Israel no matter what the U.N. votes.
It is just one more exercise in diplomatic flatulence–a flatulence that only serves to puff up the importance that U.N. diplomats delusionarily attribute to themselves.
