The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours on the Gaza border . . .
No missiles were fired in the last 24 hours; however, the scourge of explosive balloons continued as always:
This balloon was found near a bus stop in the Negev Regional Council close to Na’ar.
If Islamic Jihad wasn’t committing acts of terror yesterday, it was threatening them:
The above graphic was meant to threaten the Israel-Poland soccer game that took place in Jerusalem last night.
By the way, Islamic Jihad got the idea for this depiction from the IDF which came up with yet another novel excuse for missile fire into Israel. According to the IDF spokesman, IDF “intelligence” officers have concluded that the reason for the missile fire on Be’ersheva two nights ago was that it was a protest against the upcoming Argentina-Uruguay game to be held in Tel Aviv.
Unbelievable.
King Abdullah continues on his victory tour . . .
Yesterday it was in Tzofar, the second tiny enclave that Israel just returned to Jordan. And again, as in Naharayim it was the preening peacock Abdullah with his son Hussein bin Abdullah (aka the Crown Prince) surveying the scene along with Jordanian television.
And also again, the spectacle wouldn’t have been complete without the supposedly “moderate” Abdullah thanking Allah for giving Jordan “the victory”:
So now we find out? . . .
After almost a decade of charges against PM Netanyahu being slowly leaked piecemeal hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month from the police to the Israel media, we now find out at least one of the sources.
It turns out that one of the investigators of the 433 Corruption Investigation Unit was Avi Rotenberg who apparently was on the payroll of Yedioth Ahronoth, the newspaper most virulently anti-Netanyahu.
He “was transferred” from his post at the police yesterday–now that the investigation has come to an end.
If all this wasn’t bad enough, remember that Noni Mozes, the owner of Yedioth Ahronoth is himself suspected in Case 2000 against Netanyahu.
A minority government? . . .
Unbelievably, given the rabidly anti-Israel comments from the Arab Joint List Party during the recent mini-war with Islamic Jihad Party, Benny Gantz and Avigdor Lieberman are apparently steaming forward with plans for a minority government in which the Joint Arab List would provide the necessary votes for Gantz to become prime minister.

It is beyond disgusting and is, as PM Netanyahu continually points out, a threat to the very existence of Israel.
The only reason that we have a ? after minority government is that while Lieberman gave Gantz the green light to form such a government this weekend, he did not commit to actually voting with it.
We’ll see what happens in the coming days.
TODAY’S BLOG
No Other Country In The World
During the past few days following the 600+ missiles fired at southern Israel, we have been witness to numerous scenes and reports on Israeli television of:
*kindergarten and elementary school children crying as they ran terrified to a bomb shelter
*parents laying down on sidewalks covering their traumatized children from shrapnel from exploding missiles when they were unable to get to a bomb shelter
*children who have fainted from fear when alarms went off being wheeled into hospital emergency rooms (remember the 8 year old girl from Holon? she woke up yesterday after 4 days of unconsciousness)
*reports from social workers and psychologists about the devastating effects of continuous explosions and sirens and more explosions and more sirens
*reports from MADA about the huge number of children (and adults) that it has treated for trauma and who will likely have PTSD
. . . and on and on . . .
Your humble servant wonders how anyone in the Israeli government can watch all of these scenes and hear all of these reports and still have one scintilla of self-respect.
How is it that we live in a country in which this is allowed to happen? How do we live in a country in which protecting the citizens has become secondary in importance to world opinion of our actions?
How did political correctness become our main goal?
If it has been said once, it has been said a million times that there is no other country in the world that would tolerate such an intolerable situation. There is no other country that would allow its citizens to be continually attacked by missiles.
There is no other country that would sit by and watch its children’s lives being destroyed.
How have we gotten to this sorry state? What has gone wrong in Israel?
