Quote of the Day
“You once again said ‘I stopped the Left.’ Which Left are you talking about? The Labor Party has two seats and they sit in your government. Once again you said, ‘I prevented the evacuation of settlements.’ Who even evacuates settlements? What are you talking about? What year are you living in?”
Opposition leader Yair Lapid in the Knesset yesterday responding to the previous speech of PM Netanyahu
Your humble servant is no fan of Yair Lapid, but in these two cases Lapid is exactly correct.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .
There are 304,876 confirmed cases—an increase of 1,767
278,394 of these confirmed cases have recovered—an increase of 10,301
634 are in critical condition—a decrease of 35
239 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—an increase of 5
2,263 have died–an increase of 54
There are now 26,482 active Corona cases in Israel (that we know about; undoubtedly there are many people who have Corona who have not been tested). For example, the positive test rate yesterday was down to 3.7% because residents in red cities are getting tested at a rate of at least 30% less than the week before.
Other Corona news yesterday . . .
A new vaccine:
It was announced yesterday that the Corona vaccine developed at Nes Ziona’s Biological Insitute will begin human trials at Hadassah and Sheba Hospitals on November 1.
The new vaccine will be called “Brilife”. “Bri” refers to good health in Hebrew.

The kindergartens opened yesterday and began closing again almost immediately. The Klil Hahoresh kindergarten in Herzliya Petuach and the kindergarten Havatzelet on Ilanot Street closed after one day because staff members tested positive for Corona.
One infuriated parent expressed her anger: “It is a nightmare that cannot be described. They did tests on the staff but did not wait for the results, and now dozens of children and parents are entering isolation.”
El Al is back . . .
It is good to see that Israel’s iconic airline is back in the air. Somewhat under the radar, the airline has recently resumed flights to New York, London, Paris, and Athens.
Now comes news that as of yesterday, El Al has started flying to Frankfurt; as of today, Amsterdam is on the flight schedule; on October 25, we will see flights to Los Angeles and Miami, and the next day to Sofia and Kiev.
More about Erekat . . .
PLO General Secretary Saeb Erekat remains in critical condition, comatose and on a ventilator in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem.
A protest took place outside the hospital yesterday denouncing the government decision to let such a vile anti-Israel and anti-Semitic terrorist–the architect of the PLO’s payment plan to terrorist murderers in Israelis prisons– receive treatment here in our country:
TODAY’S BLOG:
“Our Cemeteries Do Have Peace And Quiet”
What has been nauseating to see in the last few days is how the “lefties” have all come out of the woodwork in support of Saeb Erekat.
Former Opposition Leader Shelly Yachimovich told the Israeli media yesterday that “man of peace” Erekat had told her that if only she and another Opposition Leader, Tzipi Livni, and former ultra left-wing Meretz leader Zahava Gal-On were in the government, there would have been peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
This sparked hundreds of comments on social media including:
“Yes, there would have been peace. The Palestinians would have been in Israel, and we Israelis would have been in the sea.”
“Peace between Fatah and Hamas.
“Haj Amin Al-Husseini (Grand Mufti of Jerusalem from 1921-1948) told my great grandfather that if he and Hitler had been in power here, there would have been peace.”
“Erekat is right. Our cemeteries do have peace and quiet.”
