The end of the F35 base break-in story . . .
You will recall that a Bedouin drove a car over spikes into the Nevatim AFB that is home to Israel’s F35 squadron. He subsequently fled on foot inside the base and was never apprehended despite a manhunt consisting of IDF special forces.
It now turns out that the reason he could not be found is that the Bedouin ended up running out of the base where he caught a taxi that was being driven by an accomplice who then drove him to a Palestinian controlled area.
He and the taxi driver as well as another accomplice were arrested yesterday, and the Bedouin was charged with stealing a car, driving recklessly, and entering an IDF base and remaining there illegally.
He should have been charged with “hugely embarrassing the IDF.”

“The Worst Environmental Disaster In A Decade”
Sometimes, photos tell the story.
This is what every beach on Israel’s Mediterranean coast looks like this morning—all the way from Rosh Hanikra in the north to the border with Gaza in the south:
Marine life by the tens and perhaps hundreds of thousands has been killed.
A dead fin whale washed ashore amidst the oily muck:
One of dozens of dead sea turtles:
Thousands of volunteers–including students at elementary, junior high, and high schools as well as IDF soldiers–have flocked to the beaches to try to help:
What caused this?
Apparently, oil leaked from a ship 50 km off the coast of Israel a week ago.
According to Nature and Parks Authority Head Shaul Goldstein: “This is the worst environmental disaster in a decade . . . Its impact will be felt for years.”
In terms of marine life, not for years but for many decades.
What an ecological nightmare.
