The Quote of the Day
“An order banning the publication of an ecological disaster, censorship of prisoner exchanges, concealment of the corona protocols – in all areas – political, security, health, economic; Netanyahu is hiding . . . from the public like in a dictatorship. We deserve a different leadership here, a leadership of truth.”
Merav Michaeli, head of the Israeli Labor Party
Your humble servant is no fan of the loathsome Michaeli, but in this case she is absolutely correct.
How absurd is it that we cannot get any information about the oil disaster on our beaches, the “prisoner” exchange for the crackpot Israeli woman, or the extent to which Netanyahu allowed Pfizer to turn Israelis into guinea pigs to test the vaccine?
What Michaeli is referring to concerning the oil disaster is that a Haifa Magistrate Court Judge today ordered every detail concerning the tar contamination kept under seal including identification of the suspects, name of the vessel, ports of departure and destination, cargo, and shipping lane.
A reasonable person might ask why?
By the way, it is being reported by “sources” in Egypt that the ship that leaked oil was a Greek-flagged ship that had just left a port in Egypt.
In any case, there is no such thing as transparency in Netanyahu’s Israel.
The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .
Please note that these numbers encompass from 8 pm yesterday to 8 pm today (Monday):
752,398 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March.
There are 4,433 newly confirmed cases.
838 are in critical condition—a decrease of 20
275 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—a decrease of 1
5,585 have died–an increase of 22
There are currently 39,640 active Corona cases in Israel.
An estimated 4.4 million have now received at least one dose of vaccine.
Even incremental decreases are good in terms of deaths and critically ill. However, newly confirmed cases jumped yesterday.
An amazing Corona breakthrough? . . .
From the Israeli company VAXA based in Iceland comes news that when “spirulina was grown under special conditions in order to increase the concentration of bioactive substances in the algae”, it successfully counters the TNFa protein which produces the cytokine storm associated with Corona.
What is spirulina? If you do not already know, it is a cyanobacteria, which is a family of single-celled microbes often called blue-green algae.

Dr. Assaf Tzahor, the lead Israeli scientist on the VAXA team: “The treatment is not expected to be affected by mutations and can reach production faster” because no FDA approval is needed.
As you undoubtedly know, spirulina can be found in any health food store, though not in the concentration used in the study.
TODAY’S BLOG
The Ideological Bankruptcy of Netanyahu and Likud
As we have noted in several blogs here at OneIsrael, a desperate PM Netanyahu has turned to the left-wing Israeli-Arab parties to try to get the votes that would enable his Likud party enough seats in the coming election to have a majority in the Knesset.
The astonishing facet of this development is simply that Netanyahu is seemingly throwing all of the ideals that the Likud Party has stood for over the years by the wayside in a groveling attempt to get votes. It would seem that all of the tenets that made Likud a Party on the “right” have been cast aside by a power-hungry Netanyahu.
As if this attempt by Netanyahu hasn’t been bad enough, it was reported yesterday by the newspaper Yedioth Ahronot that Netanyahu advisor Patin Mula has been engaged in secret talks with the PLO to receive its support for Netanyahu.
Yes, you read that correctly–and it was not denied by Likud or Netanyahu today. Apparently, Netanyahu’s hairbrained scheme is to get the PLO to urge Israeli-Arabs not to vote for the Joint Arab List and instead to vote for Likud.
You can imagine the outrage in Israel this morning.
Gideon Sa’ar, head of the New Hope Party:
“Netanyahu’s attempt to get PLO members to intervene in the Israeli elections is a new low, Netanyahu has no red lines. Time and time again he proves that he has only personal interests that outweigh the national interest. He is no longer qualified to serve as Israeli prime minister. “
Knesset member Yoaz Hendel of the Derech Eretz Party:
“Unbelievable. Instead of returning governance and security to Israeli residents inside the country, Netanyahu is recruiting prosecutors in The Hague to persuade Israeli Arabs to vote for him.”
Knesset head of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Zvi Hauser:
“Last week, the prime minister complied with the Palestinian Authority’s request and passed vaccinations to the Hamas leaders in Gaza, waiving the requirement to receive a life signal about the Israeli hostages there. It was announced today that the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Patin Mula, is in contact with PA officials to influence the voting pattern of Israeli Arabs. Vaccines in exchange for elections?”
MK Ayelet Shaked of Yamina:
“Ideological bankruptcy of the Likud.”
MK Matan Kahana:
“The secret deal revealed this morning between Bibi and Abu Mazen is one step too far for the Likud to go. Last week the Likud tried to make a deal with the terrorists in Balad and Ra’am (parties in the Joint Arab List), now it is revealed that the Likud is in an election agreement with Abu Mazen? The Likud has lost its way. Sad”.
Indeed.
Netanyahu and Likud have lost their way and become ideologically bankrupt.
