The News on the Israeli Street
The daily Corona (Covid-19) update . . .
Please note that these numbers encompass from 8 pm Sunday to 8 pm today (Monday):
779,958 Israelis have been confirmed with the virus since the pandemic began last March.
There are 5,479 newly confirmed cases.
737 are in critical condition—a decrease of 39
241 of the most critically ill are on ventilators—no change
5,760 have died–an increase of 22
There are currently 38,348 active Corona cases in Israel.
An estimated 4.7 million have now received at least one dose of vaccine.
The leftist Israeli judiciary strikes again . . .
In September 2019, a 15-year-old Palestinian terrorist wielding a 13 inch long knife attempted to murder a woman standing at the Modi’in Junction.
The terrorist specifically searched for a Jewish woman, found one, came up behind the woman and stabbed her in the shoulder. He stabbed her so deeply that he could not remove the knife and ran away while the woman was screaming for help.
So what happened in his case?
To begin with, the prosecutor ludicrously refused to charge the terrorist with attempted murder and instead charged him with “causing grievous bodily harm.”
At trial, the terrorist’s defense attorney said that the terrorist had no criminal record, grew up in a normal family, and did not have a “nationalistic worldview.”

In rendering their decision which sentenced the terrorist to only 4 years in prison (instead of the possible 25 year sentence), the judges “explained” that the terrorist attacked “because of a religious ban on suicide, a desire to bring honor to his family as a martyr, and a further desire to go to heaven.
Did you get all of this ultra-liberal nonsense?
Not attempted murder, grew up in a normal family, and only tried to kill a Jew because Islam would not let him commit suicide.
This is the sheer madness that afflicts the Israeli judiciary these days.

The Mossad vs The IDF:
What Last Night’s Argument Tells Us
According to numerous reports (leaks), a fierce debate broke out last night between Yossi Cohen, the head of Mossad, and Aviv Kochavi, the IDF Chief of Staff.
The subject of the argument was how to respond to the brazen Iranian attack on Israeli shipping in the Gulf of Oman a few days ago.
As you may know, Yossi Cohen has become something of a mythical figure in the Middle East overseeing one successful daring operation after another. It is fair to say that none of Israel’s enemies feel safe or out of Cohen’s reach.
On the other hand, Aviv Kochavi and most of the IDF General Command have acquired a reputation in the Arab world as being afraid to take on Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza, and Hezbollah in Lebanon. About the only theater of operations where the IDF exerts any muscle is in Syria where Iranian assets are regularly attacked.
So you can imagine how the argument went last night.
Cohen was in favor of a bold strike against Iran. Kochavi timidly favored “a more moderate” response so as “not to inflame the region.”
It appears that Netanyahu sided with Kochavi and ordered Israeli air attacks in the al-Sida Zinab area of Syria, south of Damascus, where Iranian forces and their proxy militias have been operating in recent years despite constant attacks by Israel.
Unfortunately this Israeli response–just more of the same–will do nothing but embolden Tehran.
Netanyahu should turn Cohen and Mossad loose to demonstrate that Israel will not tolerate Iranian attacks on our assets.
