The Hilarious Decree Of The Day
“The Palestinian legislative elections scheduled for May 22 and the Palestinian presidential election scheduled for July 31 will be postponed.”
Mahmoud Abbas, the Chairman of the PLO and self-appointed President for Life in a statement today
Of course we all knew the elections would never happen. Hamas would defeat the PLO in a landslide, and it wouldn’t be long until they would be tossing PLO flunkies out of buildings in Ramallah—just as they did from buildings in Gaza in 2007.

TODAY’S BLOG:
The Tragedy At Meron
There is not much to add about the sad event of the early morning in which at least 44 people died at Meron when the bleachers they were sitting apparently collapsed causing a mad scramble in which orthodox men were trampled to death.
It all happened around 12:45 am when the collapse took place at a location beside the grave of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai–whose burial place is a site of pilgrimage especially at Lag Bomer.
Many of the dead belonged to the Toldos Aharon Hasidic sect of Judaism which is mainly centered in Mea Shearim in Jerusalem and in Modi’in Illit. This group is devoutly anti-Zionist (it was not surprising today to see such fellow anti-Zionists as Mahmoud Abbas and King Abdullah of Jordan rush to express their condolences).
It is somewhat of a miracle that such a catastrophe has not happened before now–and indeed numerous authorities have warned of its possibility. Anyone who has traveled to Meron or Tzfat and seen the structures on which worshipers sit or dance on rooftops knows that many of these structures are old and dilapidated.
Of course we at OneIsrael vehemently disagree with the Toldos Aharon, but the sight of Israelis all over Israel donating blood for the injured has been heartwarming.
SHABBAT SHALOM!
