The Quote of the Day
“We warned that the failed performance of Benny Gantz would cost us blood, and tonight we are informed of a shocking attack in which a terrorist from the Uvala family murdered an 84-year-old woman in an attack in Holon. Instead of striking the enemy and defeating the terrorist organizations, including the Palestinian Authority, Gantz is busy promoting the delusions of the left and promoting a security policy that brought us to the attacks on a daily basis. Gantz is dangerous to Israel and is unfit to function as defense minister.”
Itamar Ben Gvir, head of the Otzma Yehudi Party
At 4:24 pm yesterday afternoon, an 84-year-old woman was walking down Hasmonaim Street in Holon when she was attacked from behind by a Palestinian terrorist from Sarata near Qalqilya.
He barbarically bludgeoned her to death with a sledgehammer.
This was all caught on a security camera.
The terrorist is a licensed construction worker who was apparently permitted into the country during the latest round of concessions to the PLO that “Defense” Minister Gantz announced last month while U.S. President Biden was visiting.
Ben Gvir is exactly correct. Gantz’s policy has resulted in Israeli dead. What Gantz is solely focused on–no matter the cost–is creating a Palestinian state that encompasses Area C. Every young Jewish community that he orders razed is accompanied by wholescale illegal Palestinian construction.
As Gvir remarked: “Gantz is dangerous to Israel and is unfit to function as defense minister.”
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In addition to the gruesome murder of the woman in Holon:
An IDF fighter was wounded when hit by a Molotov near the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with IEDS, Molotovs, and “rocks” between the Jama’in Junction and Tofuh, between Migdalot and Tapuach, near Umm Salmona, on the Gush Etzion-Hevron Road near Omer, and at a dozen other locations.
Good news . . .
The condition of the terrorist who carried out the murderous attack in the Jordan Valley two weeks ago–and was subsequently badly burned–has deteriorated. Why Israel is spending 1 agurot on his medical care is incomprehensible.
The newest population statistics . . .
In advance of Rosh Hashana this weekend, the Central Bureau of Statistics has published the following statistics:
–in the past year, the total population grew by 2% with the total population now being 9,593 million. Israel is expected to have 10 million residents by the end of 2024 and 20 million by the end of 2065.
–74% (7,069 million) of the residents are Jewish; 21% (2,026 million) are Arab; and 5% (498,000) are “other.”
–177,000 babies were born this past year, and 53,000 Israelis died.
–59,000 new immigrants arrived in Israel this past year.
TODAY’S BLOG
PM Lapid’s Buddy, Abdullah, Blasts Israel At The U.N.
As we noted several days ago, PM Lapid attempted to justify his latest junket to the United Nations by meeting with Turkish PM Erdogan and Jordanian King Abdullah on the sidelines of the General Assembly speeches.
The meeting with Abdullah yesterday was particularly egregious.
After the meeting, Lapid’s office issued this disingenuous statement:
“This meeting is another expression of the tightening of relations between Israel and Jordan as well as the continued strengthening of the personal relationship between the Prime Minister and the King of Jordan . . . the leaders discussed a number of issues on the bilateral agenda, emphasizing the promotion of economic-civil cooperation.”
But this is what Abdullah told the General Assembly in his speech (emphasis mine):
A founding UN principle is the right to self-determination for all peoples. The Palestinian people, with their resilient national identity, cannot be denied this right. And the road forward is the two-state solution, in accordance with UN resolutions—a sovereign, viable, and independent Palestinian state, on the 4th of June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side-by-side with Israel in peace, security, and prosperity.
Today, the future of Jerusalem is an urgent concern. The city is holy to billions of Muslims, Christians, and Jews around the world. Undermining Jerusalem’s legal and historical status quo triggers global tensions and deepens religious divides. The Holy City must not be a place for hatred and division.
Today, Christianity in the Holy City is under fire. The rights of churches in Jerusalem are threatened. This cannot continue.”
So this is what Lapid’s buddy said:
1. Jordan demands a Palestinian state based on the 1949 Armistice Lines (aka the June 4 1967 lines). In other words, Jordan demands that the Old City of Jerusalem in its entirety (including the Jewish Quarter) be placed in Palestinian hands–not to mention all of Judea and Samaria.
Jordan wants Israel to return to what Abba Eban once called “the suicide lines.”
2. Israel is undermining Jerusalem’s legal and historical status.
According to Abdullah, the city is holy to Muslims, Christians, and Jews, yet the Jordanian Islamic Wakf in concert with the Israeli government will not permit Jews to worship at the holiest place in Judaism on the Temple Mount.
3. Specifically, Israel is threatening the rights of Christians in Jerusalem.
Never mind that Israel is the only place in the Middle East where the population of Christians is increasing and Christians are free to worship.
This is who Lapid and Gantz are consorting with, a Jordanian king who never misses an opportunity to attack and undermine Israel.
