“Peaceful Coexistence” In the Silwan Neighborhood of Jerusalem

UPDATE 3 pm Israel time Monday:

There is still no agreement on a new coalition government as Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett continue to demand changes to the law exempting the ultra-orthodox from religious or national service. Your humble servant suspects an agreement will be reached within 24 hours.

TODAY’S BLOG:

All you ever read about in the international media is that Israeli “settlers” are violently taking away the land of the poor Palestinians. Scenes of  supposed “settler violence” flit across television screens and computer monitors with daily regularity. NGOs send battalions of representatives to Europe and North America to disseminate the “news” that “settlers” are the root of all evil.

Of course, this is all a lie.

This week’s trial of five Palestinian terrorists from Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood is a case in point. Over the course of six months, these five men waged an unrelenting war against Jewish residents of Beit Yonatan, Beit Dvash, and Beit Meyuchas in Silwan.

As they confessed in court, the terrorists’ goals were simple: to force the Jews out of Silwan and to stop Israeli security forces from entering the neighborhood. To accomplish these goals, the terrorist made and threw Molotov cocktails at Border Guard personnel, tried to burn down Jewish homes, and threw “rocks” at any Jew they could find.

For example, on so-called Nakba Day last May, the terrorists divided up: one group threw Molotov cocktails at Jewish homes, and another group threw “rocks” and Molotov cocktails at police cars.

They were convicted yesterday of attempted arson, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, weapons production, and rioting.

The next time you hear the canard about the “peaceful Palestinians” who want nothing more to “coexist” in peace with their Jewish brothers think about this case. And remember that the victims in this case were the “evil settlers” that the media so delights in attacking.
