UPDATES 10 am Israel time, Thursday, October 17 2013:
**Between September 15 and October 15, the following terrorism took place in Judea and Samaria (totals were compiled by “Operation Rescue in Judea and Samaria”–the grass-roots organization to which residents living in Judea and Samaria report terrorism):
3 Israelis were killed by Palestinian terrorists
46 Israelis were wounded by Palestinian terrorists
Israelis were attacked by 100 Molotov cocktails thrown by Palestinian terrorists
Israelis were attacked in 190 separate “rock throwing” assaults carried out by Palestinian terrorists
**Speaking of terrorism, there was another terrorist rocket launched out of Gaza early this morning at 12:39 am toward the Chof Ashkelon region. By 2:30 am, the IDF was already absurdly calling it a “false alarm”; by 4:00 am, the IDF story had changed to “it was just fireworks in Gaza.” Doesn’t the IDF spokesman realize just how stupid he sounds when he issues comments like these every time Palestinians attempt to kill Israeli children, women, and men?
**Another amazing Israeli phone app with the potential to revolutionize world communication appeared yesterday, invented by the Haifa-based company Lexifone.
Here’s a descriptive blurb from the google play website:
“See our CALL & TRANSLATE tab to use the app to call internationally while translating calls: Call a person in Brazil, and converse in Portuguese, or Spanish or one of our supported languages. Again, no internet, call directly from your contact list. Once connected, both sides can simply speak their language. Lexifone will translate both sides automatically.”
Of course, Hebrew is a supported language. By the way, not only can you use this technology on the phone, but you can also use it in person. Again from google play:
“See our TRANSLATE tab to allow for a face to face interpretation, when meeting someone in person. Interpretation is done one sentence at a time for relatively simple sentences. Only in face to face you need to press # key to reverse translation back and forth.”
Are you interested? Your humble servant definitely is. By the way, the app is free, but there is a very small charge for the service (click here for the link).
TODAY’S BLOG:
We are living through the 1930s again.
Europeans are boycotting Jewish products again. Europeans are passing resolutions and laws against circumcision and kosher slaughter designed to bring an end to European Jewry. World politicians are desperate to appease fascism–whether it be in Syria, in Iran, or elsewhere.
2013 is a year in which former British PM Neville Chamberlain would have felt comfortably at home. Read the text of Chamberlain’s comments as he arrived back in London on the afternoon of September 30, 1938 after meeting with Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in Berlin–at a meeting in which Britain appeased Hitler by dismantling Czechslovakia.
Chamberlain’s first comments came as he stepped off his British Airways plane onto the tarmac to a cheering throng. As he read the following, he victoriously waved the paper with his statement in the windy air (click here for a video of the actual event):

“The settlement of the Czechoslovakian problem, which has now been achieved is, in my view, only the prelude to a larger settlement in which all Europe may find peace. This morning I had another talk with the German Chancellor, Herr Hitler, and here is the paper which bears his name upon it as well as mine. Some of you, perhaps, have already heard what it contains but I would just like to read it to you:
We, the German Führer and Chancellor, and the British Prime Minister, have had a further meeting today and are agreed in recognizing that the question of Anglo-German relations is of the first importance for the two countries and for Europe. We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again.”
Chamberlain then left the airport, only to appear later that day at 10 Downing Street, at which time he added these now infamous words:
“We are resolved that the method of consultation shall be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two countries, and we are determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Europe . . .
My good friends this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honor. I believe it is peace in our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Go home and get a nice quiet sleep.”
A nice sleep indeed.
Your humble servant mentions all of this because the long story of the West’s dealing with Iran as manifested in its latest Geneva incarnation is the sordid story of rank appeasement–appeasement which has permitted the Iranian nuclear weapons program to continue and accelerate unimpeded for the last 10 years.
Lest we forget, so-called nuclear “negotiations” with the Iranians started a decade ago, in May 2003. This was followed by the EU3-Iran proposals, followed by proposals on January 17 2005; March 23 2005; April 29 2005; July 18 2005; August 2005; June 2006 (at this point the EU3 morphed into the P5+1); March-June-July 2008; April 2009 (this was the point at which President Obama entered the negotiations); September-October 2009; February-April 2010; July 2011; April-May-June 2012; and April 2013. Click here for the details on these proposals.
So yesterday, when Obama White House spokesman Jay Carney appeared in the White House briefing room and uttered the following ludicrous words, your humble servant could not help but hear echoes of Neville Chamberlain:
“The Iranian proposal was a new proposal with a level of seriousness and substance that we had not seen before.”
And this was quickly followed by another White House official blathering these remarks straight out of the Neville Chamberlain playbook:
“I’ve been doing this now for about two years. And I have never had such intense, detailed, straightforward, candid conversations with the Iranian delegation before.”
Your humble servant wonders where this official was from 2003-2011?
Let us conclude today by stating a few self-evident truths:
The West is desperate to appease Iran. Any proposals the Iranians make will be greeted with optimism and hope. The West is eager to sweep the Iranian nuclear problem under the rug, and let Iran get on with developing its worldwide terrorist network and having its Revolutionary Guards massacre thousands of Syrian civilians.
No one seems to get this except for the Iranians themselves. They know that we live in an age of Chamberlains.
**Addendum: The Iranians declared yesterday that they would not stop enriching uranium under any circumstances and that their massive centrifuge operation will continue to grow.
