*Lebanese authorities have identified one of the suicide bombers who detonated a car in front of the Iranian Embassy in Beirut several days ago–killing 23 people and wounding more than 150. The bomber was a Sunni Palestinian who lived in southern Lebanon. The first bomber was already identified as a Sunni Muslim who lived in Sidon (possibly another Palestinian).
*Israel continues to treat wounded Syrians who make it across the border. To date, their treatment has cost 20 million shekels. In an unusual report yesterday, one of those being treated told an interviewer about the large influx of Hezbollah members now taking over Syrian villages along the border with Lebanon.

As all of us israelstreeters knew, the egregious Western appeasement of Iran did not take long. Almost immediately after the delegation heads of the P5+1 countries arrived on the scene in Geneva yesterday, the appeasement deal was struck.

*Implied international recognition that it has the right to enrich uranium. The agreement allows Iran to continue to enrich uranium to 5%.
*The ability to keep all uranium that has already been enriched to approximately 18%.
*The ability to keep the Arak heavy water facility which is currently under construction, in situ. No dismantling of Arak is called for.
*The ability to keep all of its centrifuges in place. No dismantling of centrifuges currently in use is called for.
*The ability to manufacture centrifuge parts to replace any centrifuge parts that may become damaged in the future.
*The ability to maintain Iran oil sales at their current level.

*A promise from Iran that it will not install any new centrifuges of any kind including so-called “next generation” centrifuges.
*A promise from Iran to stop Arak nuclear fuel production and the separation of plutonium from spent fuel.
*A promise from Iran for full transparency of its nuclear program including allowing IAEA inspectors full access to the nuclear facilities at Purdue and Natanz, centrifuge and production facilities, reactor component and production facilities, reactor storage components, and uranium mines.

Israelstreet Conclusions:
1. The Iranian nuclear program proceeds apace with enrichment allowed to continue. Not only are centrifuges allowed to continue operating, the Iranians are specifically enabled to produce replacement parts. A very few aspects of the nuclear program have been frozen–notably the development of the Arak heavy water facility. However, no dismantling of facilities is called for.
2. The West has completely caved in on relieving sanctions. Accelerating a process that the U.S. began back in June, the Iranians have found economic relief on every front.
3. This agreement marks a new chapter in the old story of appeasement. In return for nothing more than promises–that the IAEA notes have been worthless in the past–Iran has bullied the spineless West into a pathetic arrangement. Barack Obama and John Kerry will go down in history as the re-embodiment of Neville Chamberlain.

Addendum: Iran’s Deputy Chief of Atomic Energy Organization, Hossein Khalfi, announced yesterday that construction on two new nuclear power stations has begun.
