The Appeasement in Geneva: A Model for Israeli-Palestinian “Negotiations”

UPDATES 9 am Israel time, Monday, November 25 2013:

*In spite of the vast “humanitarian crisis” that UNRWA would have us believe is gripping Hamas Gaza, Palestinian terrorists have found time during the past few days to parade their newest anti-aircraft weapons through the sewage-filled streets of the enclave:

Note there is no sewage on the streets and no humanitarian crisis. Also note the source of the picture--the alqassam brigades. The Brigades have just been accused by Egypt of receiving $5,000,000 from the Egyptian Brotherhood to attack Egyptians in the Sinai.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Thousands of Iranians welcomed their “heroic” negotiating team home yesterday with garlands of flowers and a sea of Iranian flags. Labeling their top nuclear negotiator “the Ambassador of Peace”, they chanted “No to war, sanctions, surrender, and insult.”

And why shouldn’t the crowds rejoice? In one fell swoop, Iran has gone from being a pariah country to one that is overflowing with international legitimacy. And how was this accomplished? By merely making a series of worthless promises to offer access to its few nuclear facilities that the West actually knows about.

As was written yesterday on this blog, the centrifuges keep spinning, uranium continues to be enriched, and the plutonium facility in Arak remains intact. Iran’s position as a nuclear threshold country has now been certified by the international community. The world is not a safer place.

Nevertheless, yesterday saw President Obama telephoning PM Netanyahu to assure him that everything was going to be all right–just hours after Obama had crowed to the world that American diplomacy has “opened up a new path toward a world that is more secure.”

Obama assured Netanyahu that America still has Israel’s back, but here in Israel we all now know that this is the same Obama who secretly began courting Iran when he first became president and gave up all pretense of supporting and defending Israel by engaging in even more secret “diplomacy” behind Israel’s back last June.

What can we expect in the coming months?

Obama has succeeded in isolating Israel more than ever with the result that the voices of Netanyahu and others in the government sound ever more like those of petulant whiners. Netanyahu said yesterday that Israel will not be content to sit on the sidelines while Iran marches to a nuclear bomb, but the fact is that Israel is on the sidelines. The likelihood of any Israeli attack on Iran has dwindled into nothingness.

The irony of course is that if Israel were to attack Iran, the Iranians would now enjoy the support of most of the world–especially that of the “major powers” who have just signed on to the grand appeasement.

We can also expect that the Saudis will now purchase a nuclear weapon (or weapons) from Pakistan. They certainly do not believe Obama’s prattle about the world being a safer place. Nuclear weapons in Saudi Arabia will not make Israel a safer place.

On the Palestinian front, Obama and Kerry must look at the “negotiations” in Geneva as a model for what Israel should do: concede everything in return for Palestinian promises. In short, Obama and Kerry will insist that Israel accelerate its appeasement of the Palestinians. Appeasing the Palestinians will not make Israel a safer place.

Let’s hope that PM Netanyahu finally has the gumption to stand up to the appeasers. As he noted yesterday: “Today the world is a more dangerous place.”
