Eilat and the Gaza Border Communities Hit by Missiles

UPDATES 8 pm Israel time, Tuesday, January 21 2014:

*The Dahiya Hezbollah suburb of south Beirut has been hit by another car bomber. At least 5 people have been killed and an unknown number injured. Virtually every day sees another attack on Hassan Nasrallah’s organization. Meanwhile, the Hezbollah death toll continues to mount in Syria.

Of course, the more dead Hezbollah terrorists the better. What is amazing is how the Shi’ites of southern Lebanon continue to blindly sacrifice their sons on the altar of Nasrallah and Iran.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The rocket assault on southern Israel continues unabated–with the difference that it is now coming from two directions. Eilat is being hit from the Sinai, and the Gaza Border communities are constantly running to their bomb shelters to escape rockets from Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.

The strikes on Eilat have already begun having an effect on tourism as the most recent rockets have actually hit buildings in the tourist area.  A little known group named Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (Supporters of Jersusalem) claimed responsibility for the strikes today–declaring in a communique that “Jews will see thing they do not like.”

At the same time, four more rockets from Gaza have struck southern Israel near the Gaza Border–most recently less than an hour ago. Perhaps most ominous, however, was the IED attack on IDF troops near the Gaza fence this morning.

While the IDF seems to have endless tolerance for rocket attacks on southern Israeli citizens, it has little tolerance for IED attacks on its own soldiers. Back in November 2012, the war with Hamas began  not as a result of rockets fired at Israeli citizens, but as the result of targeted IED attacks on IDF soldiers patrolling the border.

As noted in israelstreet blogs for the last week, the entire Sinai-Gaza-southern Israel region seems to be creeping toward war.
