“Let me make it absolutely clear”: John Kerry Dissembles Again

UPDATES 7 pm Israel time, Wednesday, April 2 2014:

*We live in the age of selfies. One of the best your humble servant has seen was this picture made two days ago by an IAF pilot flying upside down over Tel Aviv:

How would you like to have this view?

How would you like to have this view? All you have to do is join the Israel Air Force.

*As you probably know, Turkish PM Erdogan won a resounding victory in the Turkish elections this week. Now that the viciously anti-Israel Erdogan has completed his political campaign, he is free to engage Israel again by reaping what are sure to be ever more humiliating Israel concessions. Here is a picture of some of Erdogan’s followers celebrating:

TODAY’S BLOG:

The once floundering “peace” talks are now on the verge of total dissolution–though who knows what the next 24 hours will bring.

And as your humble servant has observed time and time again, it never makes any difference how much Israel gives the Palestinians, Israel is always blamed for any breakdown in so-called “negotiations”.

Standing at a podium in Belgium after leaving Israel yesterday, John Kerry had this contorted way of expressing why the talks have seemingly collapsed:  “Now obviously, the prisoners were due on the 29th, which was Saturday. I’m not going to get into the who, why, what, when, where, how of why we’re where we are today.”

“The prisoners were due on the 29th . . . I’m not going to get into the who?”  Obviously Kerry is pointing his finger directly at Israel–the same Israel that froze construction in Judea and Samaria for nine months, released 78 of the most nauseating Palestinian murderers from its prisons, and made proposal after proposal for peace all while the Palestinians did nothing.

And now Kerry wants to blame Israel for the Palestinians walking away?

But what was even more sadly hilarious was John Kerry declaring to the international media that Mahmoud Abbas had “kept his word” about not applying to any United Nations’ institutions–because the 15 organizations that the Palestinians applied to earlier in the day had nothing to do with the United Nations: “Let me make it absolutely clear: None of the agencies that President Abbas signed tonight involve the UN. None of them.”

Why was this sadly hilarious?

Because as Kerry was speaking, Mahmoud Abbas was releasing the list of  the 15 international institutions that the Palestinians are seeking to join. 10 out of the 15 directly involve the United Nations:

■ Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1979

■ International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1966

■ International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1966

■ Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2006

■ International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1965

■ United Nations Convention Against Torture, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1984

■ United Nations Convention Against Corruption, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2003

■ UN Genocide Convention, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948

■ Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1974

■ Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1989

Simply put, the Palestinians can do no wrong. No matter how much they lie and dissemble, they are excused. The world treats them like infants who bear no responsibility for their actions.

***Addenda:

*And of course there were 5 more non-U.N. institutions that the Palestinians applied to:

■ Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War (Fourth Geneva Convention)

■ Convention with Respect to the Laws and Customs of War on Land (Hague II)

■ Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties

■ Vienna Convention on Consular Relations

■ Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations

*The Pollard option which seemed so much in play earlier in the day has somewhat faded by nightfall with leaders in both houses of the U.S. Congress coming out against his release (even though the power to pardon rests solely with Barack Obama).
