“Palestine” Formally Joins the ICC, and Opens Pandora’s Box

UPDATES

9 am Israel time, Thursday, April 2 2015

**The IDF captured 326 Palestinian terrorists in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem, and along the Gaza border during the month of March. According to the 0404 News Agency, March saw a 35% increase in Palestinian “rock” and Molotov cocktail attacks against Israeli citizens.

**It is quiet this morning in the area of the Kissufim near Gaza. Security forces are still suggesting that Israelis exercise extreme caution when working in agricultural fields abutting the border in case Hamas sniper fire begins again.

**Another successful test of the Magic Wand missile interception system took place here in Israel yesterday when a “heavy” Hezbollah-type missile was shot down. The IDF General Command is all agog over this new weapon in Israel’s arsenal–and about all the protection it will afford the citizens of Israel.

Really? The likelihood of Magic Wand ever being used to protect civilians is slim. At a cost of $1,000,000 per missile intercept, Magic Wand will be used almost exclusively to protect Israel’s strategic sites such as nuclear and electrical power stations, Israel Air Force Bases, and, and, and.

**Islamic State marches ever closer to Israel with news today that it has taken over a key border crossing into Jordan.

IS fighters take over a border crossing into Jordan last night.

This takeover came hours after IS fighters also took over the Yarmouk neighborhood in southern Damascus–which is home to the Syrian capital’s Palestinian population. The following map shows the quagmire that is now Syria:

Syria will never be "Syria" again; the country has been sliced and diced into numerous parts (map source: upper left corner).

Syria will never be “Syria” again; the country has been sliced and diced into numerous parts (map source: top). Note that “basically” gray/dark gray color means Islamic State control; green means rebel control; yellow means Kurdish control; and red means control by Assad forces including Hezbollah and Iranian soldiers. Blue on this map signifies the Israel Golan Heights.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Yesterday’s lovefest at The Hague was something to behold.

Officials at the International Criminal Court slobbered all over themselves welcoming PLO Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki to its “august” chambers. Embracing the Court’s formal acceptance of “Palestine”, Court members and staff all gushed to greet al-Malki and give him their good wishes.

The Palestinians look at the Court as one of their “doomsday” options–a venue to which they can take every conceivable grievance against Israel.

Already this week, Hanan Ashrawi of the PLO has announced that the Palestinians will open a “war crimes” case against Israel at the ICC because of 144 new residential units just certified for construction in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Homa.

This morning, PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas threatened to file another “war crimes” case against Israel because Israel is deducting money owed to Israel for electricity, water, and medical services from the tax money it is unfreezing.

You get the idea.

Whether it concerns Israeli construction, collection of Palestinian unpaid debts, or the price of humus, the PLO/Hamas will flood the ICC with complaints. One wonders just how long the smiles we saw yesterday on the faces of the Court members and their staffs will remain when their dockets are jammed.

In fact, the jamming has already begun. Back in January, when the PLO/Hamas actually joined the court, a case was filed accusing Israel of “war crimes”.  A preliminary probe into those accusations was begun on January 16, but has yet to be concluded.

But there is another reason why those smiles will soon be erased. Can you even begin to imagine the number of war crimes investigations that Israel will demand be launched against the PLO/Hamas? Every Palestinian murder of an Israeli is a war crime; every missile that Hamas fires is a war crime; and every Palestinian “rock” and Molotov cocktail attack is a war crime.

In filing cases at the ICC, the Palestinians have opened a Pandora’s Box that will expose Palestinian crimes to the world.
