How can there ever be peace with the Palestinians?

**The PLO Central Bureau of Statistics, one of the most valuable propaganda arms of the PLO, released its annual population report today. As always, the report exaggerates the number of Palestinians living in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, and terms all Israeli-Arabs “Palestinians”.

The Bureau “estimates” that there are 12.1 million Palestinians worldwide:

4.6 million of them live under Palestinian control in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.

1.5 million live in Israel (Israel-Arabs).

6 million live outside Judea, Samaria, Gaza, and Israel (the so-called Palestinian “refugees”).

The Bureau estimates, remarkably and laughably (given vastly decreasing birthrates), that the Palestinian population of Judea, Samaria, Gaza, and Israel will grow by 1 million in the next 5 years. This information dovetails with a plea for water yesterday from UNRWA in Gaza which estimates that the population of Gaza–about 1.7 million–will increase by 500,000 in the next five years.

But again, the amazing point in all of this is that the PLO admits that virtually all of the Palestinians living in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza live under complete Palestinian control–a fact that confirms the 98% figure that your humble servant has been describing for years (the only Palestinians not living under Palestinian control are those living in Area C of Judea and Samaria).

**In a strong attempt to support Israel, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee passed new amendments to the Trade Promotion Authority several weeks ago that would call for trade negotiations with the European Union to be based partly on a rejection of the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions Movement.

The amendments have aroused a storm of protest from leftist groups including the  supposedly “pro-Israel” J Street.

Here is the disingenuous statement of J Street from its own website:

J Street is adamantly opposed to the Global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. We’ve worked consistently, particularly on college campuses, to oppose BDS efforts that are often thinly-veiled attempts to delegitimize Israel.

We view the Roskam-Vargas “U.S.-Israel Trade and Commercial Enhancement Act” (H.R.825) as not simply unhelpful to the effort to combat Global BDS, but contrary to longstanding US policy opposing settlement of the territory occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six Day War.

Say what?

J Street is trying to stop amendments that would severely curtail BDS and yet wants to claim that is “adamantly opposed” to BDS?

J Street has done nothing to stop BDS on campus and yet claims that it is working hard on university campuses to do so.

Occupation. Occupation. Occupation: This is the steady delegitimizing drumbeat of J Street, the same J Street at whose recent convention a J Street Council member ludicrously suggested that there should not be a Jewish state of Israel and that Jews in Israel should live as a “protected minority” in an Arab state.

TODAY’S BLOG:

This morning PM Netanyahu announced that his new government wants to reach peace with the Palestinians.

However, an event took place this past week which abundantly illustrates why there will never be peace with the Palestinians.

Let’s go back to October 12, 2000.

Nurzhitz and Avrahami.

Vadim Nurzhitz and Yossi Avrahami.

Vadim Nurzhitz and Yossi Avrahami, two Israeli IDF reservists, took a wrong turn on the way to their IDF base at Beit El and ended up at a checkpoint in Ramallah. Instead of turning them around and redirecting them,  the Palestinian police at the checkpoint took them into custody and transported them to Ramallah’s main police station. They were subsequently taken to the second floor of the building.

A Palestinian mob gathered at the station.

Meanwhile, two Palestinian policemen entered the room where Avrahami and Nurzhitz were held, beat them to the point of death with an iron pipe, and stabbed them repeatedly.

Then another Palestinian from the mob, Aziz Salha, came into the room and “finished the job”–beating, stabbing, and dismembering the soldiers.

In Salah’s own words*:

“I saw an Israeli soldier laying there, on his stomach. I approached him and I saw a knife in his back right shoulder.  I took the knife from the back of the soldier and stabbed him in the back two or three times, and left the knife in his back. Others in the room continued to hit the soldier in the legs. After stabbing the soldier, I put my hand over his mouth to strangle him. I saw that my hands were stained with blood and my shirt covered in blood at the bottom, then went to the window and I waved my hands to people in the yard. Then I returned from the window and saw the other soldier lying on his stomach in one corner of the room.”

The Palestinians then gouged out their eyes, disemboweled them, and scalped Avrahami–ripping out his brain. Salah then appeared at the window to proudly show off his bloody hands:

Aziz Salah.

Then the bodies of the soldiers were thrown out of the second floor window.

Once on the ground, the bodies were stomped on by the crowd, and one of the bodies was set on fire. Then, the bodies were dragged to the Ramallah central square by the mob, and further dismembered.

All of which brings us to this week.

Whom do you think was honored by the PLO (aka the Palestinian authority)?  The three butcherers of the Israeli soldiers–the two Palestinian policemen and Aziz Salah.

In a visit to their homes, the head of PLO Prisoner Affairs and member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Issa Karaka, praised the butcherers as shining examples of the the Palestinian resistance. Karaka recounted how the Israelis had been killed and praised the Palestinian “resistance operation.”

How can there ever be peace with people who honor those who slaughter and butcher you?

**Addendum. All of the murderers of Avrahami and Nurzhitz were eventually captured, tried, and sentenced to varying terms. The harshest sentence, life imprisonment, was meted out to Aziz Salah. However, he only served about ten years of that sentence because he was incredibly released in the Gilad Schalit murderer release in 2011.

Salah now lives with his family in Gaza–in a large spacious apartment overlooking the Mediterranean, the type of apartment reserved for Palestinian heroes and paid for by funds from the European Union, the United States, and other donor nations.

**Salah’s words are taken from a transcript in a civil trial that took place in Jerusalem District Court.
