Just after midnight, Palestinian terrorists assaulted an Israeli bus near Hizma–7 km from Jerusalem near the neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev. The bus driver crashed off the road after the front windshield was shattered in two places. At least 1 passenger was physically wounded, and 2 other passengers on the bus had to be treated for trauma by MADA.

**The UNRWA-created Palestinian “refugees” threaten to bite the hand that feeds them:

As was recently reported on israelstreet, the abominable UNRWA has begun cutting back services to Palestinians as its money sources have dried up.

In what can only be described as surreal, yesterday saw Talal Abu Zarifa, senior member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine making this statement in Gaza: “UNRWA needs to be careful not to enrage our refugees. Our people will erupt because they realize that this is a conspiracy against refugees, and not a financial matter.”

Hamas chimed in that the UNRWA cutbacks are “a declaration of war on the Palestinians.”

Why is this surreal? UNRWA has spent the last 66 years creating Palestinian refugees where there were none. According to UNRWA, that number has now swelled to over 5,000,000 and is increasing everyday.

In the process, UNRWA has helped create a sick and dependent Palestinian society that is immersed in the myth of Palestinian victimhood. In Gaza alone, more than half of all the Palestinians are dependent on UNRWA for everything including food, health services and education.

Of course, we in southern Israel all know what UNRWA Gaza schools are really used for:

In any case, it gives your humble servant a warm feeling to see that UNRWA is now reaping what it has sown.

TODAY’S BLOG:

After yesterday’s events on the Temple Mount that spiraled completely out of control, let’s take some time today to understand once again what in the world is going on at the holiest place in Judaism.

“The Status Quo”

1. The Temple Mount has been under Israeli sovereignty since June 7, 1967.  However, within hours of Israeli troops taking the Mount, Moshe Dayan inexplicably and disastrously handed over “daily affairs” on the Mount to the Jordanian Islamic “Wakf”. At the same time, however, Israel retained control of “security affairs” on the Mount.

2. Shortly after Israel took control of the Temple Mount, the Knesset passed the “Protection of Holy Places Law”. Articles 1 states that: “The Holy Places shall be protected from desecration and any other violation and from anything likely to violate the freedom of access of the members of the different religions to the places sacred to them or their feelings with regard to those places.”

3.  Based on this law, The Israel Supreme Court has steadfastly upheld the right of Jews to pray on the Mount, but also the right of the police to block non-Muslim prayer if the police feel that it will lead to “security problems.”

4. Items 1, 2, 3 above have led to a situation in which the Islamic Wakf in conjunction with the Jerusalem Police attempt to control when Jews can come to the Mount through the use of extreme time restrictions (the Jerusalem Police have even allowed the Wakf to have its own police on the Mount).  The Wakf and police have decided that Jews can never pray on the Mount because it would provoke Muslims and cause security problems. Even though Jews are permitted to come to the Mount in extremely limited numbers, they are restricted from bringing any Torah or other “religious” or political paraphernalia to the Mount.

The Islamic Wakf Attempts to Change the Status Quo

5. But even the above restrictions are not enough for the Wakf.  In recent years, the Wakf has cynically used the Israel Supreme Court’s ruling to further restrict Jewish presence on the Mount by hiring (with money from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan) two groups to intimidate Jews and cause “security problems”. These two groups are:

A. Palestinians who are paid to attack Jews on the Mount with “rocks” and other items. These Palestinians are given shelter by the Wakf in the Al-Aksa Mosque. They are paid especially well to disrupt Jewish presence on Jewish holidays. Their basic and successful technique is to announce that they will riot and attack Jews who come to the Mount–whereupon the police will usually stop Jews from coming to the Mount in order to avoid “security issues.” If the police don’t stop Jews from coming to the Mount, they actually riot.

B. Palestinian Arab women called Morabiton who are paid to follow Jews on the Mount and harass them by screaming curses and threats at them. Their common refrain over the past few years has been “Dirty Jew Go Home”, “Jewish pig”, and hundreds of other slurs.

All of which brings us to the last few days.

Early last week, well in advance of the Tisha B’Av holiday, Palestinian terrorists announced they would riot on the Temple Mount. They stored weapons in the Al-Aksa Mosque and began pelting police and Jews with them on Thursday. When Jews attempted to go up to the Mount on Tisha B’Av, a full-scale riot erupted.  Police were forced to push them back into the Al-Aksa Mosque.

Meanwhile on Friday afternoon, a Jewish group was verbally and physically accosted by the Arab women on the Mount. The Arabs repeatedly tried to push people in the group and yelled slur after slur. At one point, after having been individually cursed and threatened, one of the Jewish women in the group turned around and told an Arab woman that “Muhammad is a pig.”

As usual, this entire exchange was filmed by Arabs and leftists on the Mountexcept that they edited out the curses hurled by the Arab women that provoked the woman’s comment.

If you can believe this, the police showed up at the woman’s house in Binyamin on Friday night and arrested her based on a complaint made by one of the Muslim women hired to curse Jews. The police also detained the woman’s husband.

At an emergency court hearing thereafter before the same judge that issued the arrest and detention order, the police claimed that the woman shouted “Muhammad is a pig” as a provocation to Arabs on the Mount. However, the defense produced a video showing that the woman’s comment only came after numerous insults and as a response to Arab provocation.

The judge ordered the woman and her husband released.

The woman’s attorney commented: “The police tried to mislead the court, which was then exposed to the full material and subsequently ordered the immediate release of my client. I hope they arrest all Muslim women who riot as they do in the video, raging [at Jews] and making death threats.”

But the judge’s release of the woman and her husband has not stopped the leftist Israeli media from using the video produced by the leftists to say that the riots on the Mount were caused by the “Muhammad is a pig” statement. Channels 1 and 10 ludicrously spent a substantial amount of their TV coverage last night attacking the woman.

This attack was picked up by the PLO, Hamas, and Jordan this morning with the Jordanian Minister of Religion issuing this absurd comment that: “The Israeli violations and attacks on the Temple Mount against Muslim worshipers is hurting the feelings of all Arabs and Muslims, and may lead to feelings of hostility.”

Say what? Israeli attacks on Muslim worshipers?

Your humble servant ends today’s blog with the simple question: Do you think that Jews will ever be able to worship at our holiest site?
