UPDATE 9:00 am

***Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .

There were three stabbing incidents yesterday. Two of them were thwarted: at 1:47 in the afternoon, a female terrorist armed with a knife was captured at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron; six hours later at 7:22 pm, another female terrorist brandishing a knife was captured at the Oranit Checkpoint after being shot in the leg. No Israelis were wounded in either attack.

However, another attack took place at 7:28 pm in Kiryat Gat. 4 Israelis were stabbed: a 13-year-old girl, 2 women (44, 56), and a man (51). All of them were rushed to Barzilai Hospital where they remain in “medium” condition this morning. Initially, the terrorist escaped causing a frantic city-wide manhunt. He was finally captured about three hours later in the yard of city resident’s home.

It turns out that the terrorist is a 16-year-old man from Hebron who was in Kiryat Gat illegally working in the construction industry. Police have also arrested two of his accomplices. They should also arrest his employer.

Aside from these stabbings, numerous other terror events took place all day. Some of the worst were the Molotov firebomb attacks at Mevo Dotan (northern Samaria), Al Khader (Gush Etzion), Nahlin (Gush Etzion), Ras al-Amud (Jerusalem), and Issawiya (Jerusalem). Vicious “rock” assaults took place at such places as the Maccabim Checkpoint, Adam, Silwad, Mt. Hebron, and Beitar Illit. Israelis were wounded both physically and traumatically in many of these attacks according to MADA.

***Your laugh of the day . . .

With Europe under siege, the Russians bombing everyone from Kurds to IS in Syria, the Iranians storing more uranium than ever, John Kerry is coming to Israel tomorrow to “jumpstart the peace process”.

He will be engaging in shuttle diplomacy, driving back and forth between Ramallah and Jerusalem.

Just the thought that Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO are somehow “partners for peace” is funny beyond funny. Endless incitement, endless glorication of those killing Israelis, endless refusals to condemn barbaric murderers–these are the trademarks of Mahmoud Abbas.

***Well . . . there is another laugh . . .

It appears that the Iranians are having a tough slog of it in Syria. They are especially suffering an acute shortage of officers–as the curse of Soleimani continues operating full-force.

What is the curse? Every Iranian commander who is photographed with Iranian general Qasem Soleimani gets killed by the “rebels” within 24 hours.

Generals, colonels, captains...whoever get his picture taken with Soleimani is dead man.

Generals, colonels, majors, captains…whoever gets his picture taken with Soleimani is a dead man.

Here’s who got killed yesterday:

TODAY’S BLOG:

Much of Europe is under lockdown today. Concrete Muslim terror attack threats have been sounded at the Vatican, in the Czech Republic, in Spain, in France, in Germany, and in the United Kingdom.

But nowhere more so than in Belgium which is now under the highest alert.

Of course, the difference between Belgium and the other countries mentioned is that Brussels has an entire neighborhood dedicated to terrorism–and from which numerous terrorists have traveled to stage attacks elsewhere such as the 2004 Madrid train bombings and the Paris attacks last week.

It is also a neighborhood dedicated to the violent extermination of Israel.

The name of that neighborhood is Sint-Jans-Molenbeek. It is one of the 19 municipalities incorporated into the municipality of Brussels. In fact, it is virtually in the heart of the city.

If you look at Molenbeek on a map, in isolation, it looks very innocuous:

molenbeek2

From looking at the above picture, you wouldn’t know that Molenbeek happens to be one of the most densely populated areas of Belgium–with a population density of 16,000 people per km2.

Why is it so densely populated? It has been overrun by Muslim immigrants who have brought with them a soaring birthrate.

Looking at Molenbeek in larger perspective, you notice an interesting detail.

Note the presence of the European Union.

That’s right.

In a city which is considered the de facto capital of the European Union, it is interesting to note that the Molenbeek “neighborhood” is virtually surrounded on one side by the institutions of the EU: the European Commission DG Development and Cooperation, the European Parliament, and numerous other EU commissions.

These institutions are in what is known as the “European Quarter” of Brussels.

What you cannot tell from the photograph above is that the European Parliament building virtually sits on the border of the Molenbeek neighborhood (within several hundred meters).

Why does your humble servant mention all of this?

Europe has always been immersed in anti-Semitism.* It is only natural that the European Union through its Parliament and Commissions has become one of the most strident anti-Israel entities on the planet.

And it is only natural that the most violent European Muslims of the same mindset have found a home right beside the European Union.

One final note.  On May 6, 2010, Obama vice president Joe Biden gushed these remarkable words while speaking to the European Parliament:

“As you probably know, some American politicians and American journalists refer to Washington, DC as the capital of the free world.  But it seems to me that this great city, which boasts 1,000 years of history and which serves as the capital of Belgium, the home of the European Union, and the headquarters for NATO, this city has its own legitimate claim to that title.”

What an irony.

The Obama Administration has spent almost eight years now steadily dismantling any thought that Washington, D.C. is the capital of the free world, and Brussels has become the hotbed of European terrorism.

*Addendum. It is interesting to note that a horrific incident of terrorism against Jews occurred in what is now Molenbeek, in the section closest to the European Quarter with its EU institutions–in the year 1370.

If you go to Henegouwenkaai 33 in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, you will find the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula.

From a description of the church and its sordid history:

More important, however, than Ste. Gudule, in the later history of Brussels Cathedral, is the painful medieval incident of the Stolen Hosts. The Jew-baiting of the fourteenth century led to a story that on Good Friday, 1370, certain impious Jews had stolen sixteen consecrated Hosts [from “hostia”: pieces of bread] from the Cathedral, and sacrilegiously transfixed them with knives in their synagogue. The Hosts miraculously bled, which so alarmed the Jews that they restored them to the altar. Their sacrilege was discovered by the aid of an accomplice, and on this evidence several Jews were burned alive, and the rest banished from Brabant for ever. A chapel on the site of the synagogue still commemorates the event, and the Miracle of the Hosts (as it is called) gives rise to several works of art now remaining in the Cathedral. An annual ceremony (on the Sunday after the 15th of July) keeps green the memory of the miraculous bleeding : the identical wafers are then exhibited. . . . Now, begin the tour of the church with the south aisle, to the left as you enter. The glass here is; modern. It represents the story of the Stolen, Hosts, some of the subjects being difficult to decipher. We see the Jew bribing a Christian, who removes the Hosts in a monstrance : then the Christian departing from the Jewish Synagogue with his ill-gotten’ gains. The third window I do not understand. After that, we see the Jews betrayed by one of their number; the Miracle of the Blood, with their horror and astonishment; the Recovery of the Hosts . . .
