***In honor of the arrival of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry yesterday, Palestinians decided to take a day off from terrorism.

Nothing happened except:

Thwarted Palestinian stabbing attacks at the International Convention Center, and on the Jerusalem Light Rail.

Palestinian Bulldozer attacks at the Hizma Checkpoint, and the Tapuach Junction (4 Israelis wounded).

The car used in the bulldozer attack at the Tapuach Junction. The terrorist smashed 4 Israelis against the concrete barriers.

Palestinian Molotov firebombs at Kiryat Arba, Dolev (large fire set), and the Brown Industrial Zone in Samaria.

Palestinian shooting attacks at Israeli motorists driving between Givat Asaf and Beit El.

Palestinian “rock” assaults in Al Khader, Shiloh, Hawara, Ben Zion St. in Jerusalem (Israeli wounded), Tekoa, Gush Etzion Junction (Israeli wounded), Shavei Hebron, Talmonim, Hawara, Maccabees (bus passenger wounded),  Beit Haggai, and the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron.

Palestinian riots in Wadi Joz, Silwan, Anata, Hizma, Beit Ummar, Issawiya, Genia (IDF soldier wounded),  Qalqilya, Bir Zeit, Mt. Hebron, Mt. of Olives, Tulkarm, and Al Be’er.

Yep, it was a nice and peaceful day except for more than 40 Palestinian terror attacks.

***But you probably did not read about any of the above attacks in your local or national media yesterday–but if you did, it was all about how Israel supposedly caused the attacks and Palestinians are the “poor victims.”

Brendan O’Neill, an editor of the British newspaper The Telegraph, was on a European press tour of Israel yesterday. After traveling around the country, he criticized the way that the European press demonizes Israel and infantilizes the Palestinians:

“[The Palestinians] are presented as  . . . in a state of despair, they have no choice. [However, they] are far from being . . . pathetic children that need middle class white people to look after them . . .”

O’Neill went on to say that such coverage denies Palestinians “moral autonomy”. He concluded his remarks: “There is definitely lack of criticism to how [the Palestinian Authority] runs its affairs. Palestinians then play up to that narrative and are invited to play the role of the victims because that is what Europeans expect of them, so its a vicious cycle – the ability of Palestinians to run their affairs is continually undermined.”

***Elsewhere around the neighborhood . . .

–The saga of the Turkish shoot-down of the Russian plane continues. In case you missed it, the Russians lied yesterday about the fact that their plane was attacking Islamic State (there is no Islamic State in that part of Syria); the Turks lied about the Russian plane being over Turkish territory–videos show the plane plummeted directly to the ground 4 km inside of Syria after being struck by the Turkish missile; and Islamic State lied about killing the Russian pilots–another appalling video shows Turkmen fighters in Syria machine-gunning the Russians to death as they parachuted from their plane.

What really happened (probably) was actually quite simple. The Russians were bombing the Turkmen rebels who are fighting against Assad. The Turkish jets stopped that attack.

–The Egyptian Sinai will continue to have 1900 UN peacekeepers (MFO: Multinational Force Observers) after all. Despite the fact that the Egyptians suffer terror attacks almost every day, the MFO wanted to reduce its contingent.

However both Egypt and Israel joined forces at a meeting in Rome last week to stop any talk of reductions.

Yesterday, five people were killed by a suicide bomber at the Swiss Inn in Al-Arish in the northern Sinai. The targets were judges overseeing a local parliamentary election–none of the judges were harmed.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The bizarre spectacle of John Kerry arriving in Israel yesterday amidst full-scale Palestinian terror, and expecting Israel to make concessions to the PLO simply blows your humble servant’s mind.

And not just any concessions.

This time, Obama and Kerry want Israel to turn over 10,000 dunams to the PLO–just to get Mahmoud Abbas to return to the so-called “negotiating table.”

Let’s take a short stroll down memory lane.

When Obama first became President, he and Kerry demanded that Israel enact a “settlement” freeze so that Abbas would “negotiate.” PM Netanyahu agreed to a 10 month freeze. Abbas did not negotiate.

A couple of years later, Obama and Kerry demanded that Israel release 104 Palestinian murderers so that Abbas would “negotiate.” PM Netanyahu agreed and released 78 of the most heinous murderers. After releasing 78 murderers (some of whom have since murdered again), not only did Abbas fail to return to the “negotiating table”, he also signed a “reconciliation government” with Hamas.

And now, Obama and Kerry want land?

Almost as mind-blowing as the Obama-Kerry demand is the fact that Netanyahu is even considering such a “gesture.” According to various sources, when Netanyahu was in Washington last week, he suggested that Israel might be willing to turn over 10,000 dunams (about 2500 acres) of land in Area C that Kerry and Obama want, in return for the Palestinians and the United States recognizing that the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria are part of Israel.

For Netanyahu to even suggest such a trade-off is possible is reprehensible because it establishes that: (1) Israel does not consider all of Area C as part of Israel (2) the Europeans and United States will now endlessly demand Israel give up territory in Area C.

But back to Kerry.

Apparently, when Kerry arrived yesterday, the first place he went was to Netanyahu. And the first thing Kerry did was flatly reject any U.S. recognition of the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria as Israeli territory.

Isn’t it amazing that once again, Israel is being asked to give something for nothing? And isn’t it amazing that once again, the United States is “negotiating” for the Palestinians?

Well, not really amazing.

After all, the Palestinians revel in the idea that they are pathetic children that need middle class white people (or in this case Obama and Kerry) to look after them.
