Last night, Israelis were treated to the spectacle of tens of thousands of Hamas members, some masked and some not, marching through the streets of the northeastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat.
The brazen marchers not only were waving Hamas flags by the score but were also brandishing machetes and firing machine guns into the air. As they did so, they shouted: “This is how Mohammed taught us! How to slaughter the Jews!”
The occasion was the funeral of Mohammed Saeed Ali, who was killed at the Damascus Gate on October 10 after he attempted to stab two Border Guards. Why was the funeral yesterday? Because our idiotic “Defense Minister” Moshe Ya’alon idiotically decided that the bodies of terrorists should be returned to the PLO.
Not surprisingly, one of the marchers at the funeral immediately traveled out to Samaria afterwards–and was killed when he tried to stab IDF soldiers.
But back to the march.
How is it possible that such a spectacle could take place in Jerusalem–within a few hundred meters of French Hill and the Hebrew University? Has our government gone completely off its rocker? Are the Jerusalem Police completely impotent?
The unfortunate answer to both questions is yes.
