—BREAKING NEWS—

11:14 pm Israel time: Palestinian terrorist stabs 40-year-old Israeli man in Givat Ze’ev. Israeli critically wounded. Terrorist captured by surrounding crowd.

UPDATES: 7:00 pm Israel time

Palestinian terror.

There have been two stabbing attacks in the last three hours.

The first took place at the Qalandiya checkpoint just after 4 pm. A bus containing blue ID card holders (Israeli citizens and permanent residents) was inspected, and a man was found on board with no ID card. When he was taken off the bus for questioning, he pulled a knife out of his bag and attempted to stab a security officer. He was disarmed and captured.  It turns out that he is a 17-year-old resident of Shechem (Nablus).

The second took place at the Hawara checkpoint at 4:10 pm. Details remain sketchy, but the terrorist was shot, and no Israelis were wounded.

Another tunnel has collapsed in Gaza, and with it 11 Hamas terrorists have met their timely end. This collapse occurred under the al-Tuffah neighborhood north of Gaza City.

–>Speaking of tunnels.

Israeli residents along the Gaza Border have been reporting for some months now that Hamas tunnel excavations are taking place under them.

In the last few days, people in Sderot and in the moshavs located in the short distance between Sderot and Gaza have appeared on Israeli television to describe what they are hearing.

One such person had this to say about what happened last week at 4 am:

“We heard loud noises from underground.  The noises grew louder, and I told my mother that something is not normal. We felt as if somebody was breaking into our house.”

A resident of the house next door, reported that she heard the same noises: “We felt that the concrete foundation of our house was going to break.  We heard booms and banging from under our kitchen.”

What did the IDF do when these reports were received?

Absolutely nothing–except to say that the reports would be “reviewed”.

If this sounds painfully familiar it should. Exactly the same sequence of events took place prior to the 2014 war with Hamas. Residents heard digging; they reported it to the IDF; and the IDF did nothing. Then the war started and tunnels were discovered right under Israeli homes and kindergartens. And then, Hamas began coming out of tunnels–and killing IDF soldiers.

–>Palestinian beggary continues unabated.

As we all know, representatives of the PLO regularly travel the world begging for money. Their total lack of dignity in doing so is a thing to behold. It is little wonder that behind all the smiles that greet PLO officials when they arrive in a country is a grimace that says “How much do they want this time?”

Saudi Arabia announced today that will be ponying up another $60 million dollars “to support the budget of Palestine and the Palestinian people’s attempt to cope with the situation.”

Roughly translated: “We will give $60 million dollars to line the pockets of Mahmoud Abbas and his cronies, and to pay the “salaries” of Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons.”

–>The Women at the Wall saga grinds to a close.

For years now, the Women at the Wall group has been breaking every convention at the Kotel (Western Wall) either by dressing or behaving inappropriately. They have rejected compromise after compromise designed to provide them a place and time where they can pray.

This coming Sunday, the Netanyahu will vote on a compromise which the Women have agreed to. Essentially, it is the compromise that Natan Sharansky worked out several years ago.

The Women will have their own entrance to the Wall located between Mughrabi Ramp and Robinson’s Arch, and their own “plaza” beside the Wall that will not be under the jurisdiction of Rabbi of the Kotel.

Let’s hope this brings the unseemly saga to an end. Your humble servant has never been a fan of the Women of the Wall’s continual efforts to disturb the orthodox Jews who have prayed at the wall for two millennia.

TODAY’S BLOG:

An illegal building built in Area C by the European Union. Note the EU label that reads: (photo: Regavim).

An illegal building built in Area C by the European Union. Note the extreme arrogance: even though the building is illegal, the EU labels its buildings:  “European Commission”/the flag/ “Humanitarian Aid” (photo: Regavim).

First some context.

The Oslo Accords that were signed in 1994 by the PLO and Israel divided Judea and Samaria into three sections:

Area A: This area was placed under total PLO control. All administrative and security matters became the prerogative of the PLO.

Area B: This area was placed under PLO administrative control. All administrative decisions became the prerogative of the PLO. However, all security matters became the prerogative of Israel.

Area C: This area was placed under total Israeli control. All administrative and security matters became the prerogative of Israel.

Three interesting facts about the above areas:

*Areas A and B contain about 95% of the Palestinian population of Judea and Samaria.

*Area C contains about 60% of the land of Judea and Samaria.

*Area C contains 100% of Jewish community members in Judea and Samaria.

As regular readers to this blog know, your humble servant has long advocated the annexation of Area C to Israel. And as regular readers also know, the European Union has been working hard to create Palestinian facts on the ground in Area C. The EU has been doing this by illegally funding the construction of buildings–and most recently by constructing a road that runs from the E1 area near Ma’aleh Adumim to the northern tip of the Dead Sea.

More illegal buildings built by the European Union. Note the European labels.

More illegal buildings built by the European Union. Note the EU labels.

This past week the Foreign Affairs Council of the E.U. declared that the time has come for Israel to hand over Area C. According to the E.U., such a handover would significantly increase Palestinian economic opportunities and empower Palestinian institutions. To believe the E.U., this would “improve stability and security for Israel and the Palestinians.”

What hogwash.

The infantile Palestinians are demonstrably unable to financially take care of themselves–as evidenced by the Saudi monetary diapering described above. And the thought that Israel’s security would be improved by turning over land in Area C is laughable. If such a handover ever took place, Palestinian terrorists would be put right into the heart of Jewish communities.

Fortunately, Israel is “wise” to the E.U. effort and is beginning to act in self-defense in ways that make the E.U. extremely unhappy. This past month, the European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, told the European Parliament that between January and May 2015 (the most recent period for which he had statistics), Israel destroyed 41 structures built by the European Union at a cost of 236,000 Euros. Just last week, Israel announced that it was turning land in Area C just north of the Dead Sea into Israel state land.

The European Union effort to transform Area C is not only illegal but also abominable. The time has come to take the gloves off and fight the E.U. tooth and nail on every item. In Israel, the European Union has become nothing more than a front for the PLO.
