UPDATES: 7:00 pm Israel time

Palestinian terror today.

It has been another violent day in Israel with stabbing attacks, thwarted stabbing attacks, attempted bulldozer attacks, and “rock” and Molotov attacks.

At 7:29 am this morning, a Palestinian terrorist from Jamal (south of Tulkarm) was spotted by IDF soldiers while attempting to penetrate a settlement in western Samaria . When he lunged at them with a knife, he was shot and killed.

At 9:28 am, two Palestinian terrorists were captured on their way to a bulldozer attack in Tel Aviv following a wild car chase.

At 10:22 am, a Palestinian stabbing attack was thwarted in the Old City of Jerusalem when a terrorist armed with a knife was captured by alert Border Guards.

In between all of these attacks, there have been numerous “rock” and Molotov attacks at such places as Karmi Tsur and Beit Ummar.

–>The IDF continues its pathetically passive military doctrine.

Imagine how safe residents of the South feel this morning after PM Netanyahu’s outrageous statement yesterday.

Responding to a stream of reports from residents hearing excavations taking place under their homes, Netanyahu blathered:

“We are working methodically and with level-headedness against all threats including the threat from Hamas, both through defensive measures and through offensive measures. Of course if we are attacked from the tunnels in the Gaza Strip we will act with very great strength against Hamas . . .”

What is the IDF waiting for? If we know that the terrorists in Gaza have tunnels, why in the world would we wait to be attacked before taking action?

Waiting until we are attacked is an absurd strategic policy, one that had disastrous results in 2014 when Palestinian terrorists emerged from the tunnels and killed numerous Israeli soldiers.

–>Remember the two houses from which 10 Jewish families were evicted last week by “Defense” Minister Moshe Ya’alon?

You will recall that Ya’alon defended his indefensible action by claiming that he did not think that Jews had really purchased the homes.

Yesterday, the Palestinian man who sold the houses to the Jews turned himself into the PLO following the PLO’s arrest and torture of members of his family. He will undoubtedly be hauled out behind the Ramallah “police station” in a couple of weeks and shot.

–>Avichai Mandelblit takes over as Attorney General.

Israel's new Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. Hopefully he can return a sense of decency and impartiality to the office.

Israel’s new Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. Hopefully he can return a sense of decency and impartiality to the office.

Following the Israel Supreme Court’s rejection of last minute appeals against his taking office, Avichai Mandelblit became Israel’s Attorney General at noon today.

So comes to an end the unseemly tenure of left-wing Yehuda Weinstein who left no stone unturned in issuing countless dictates against those on the opposite side of the political spectrum. We can only hope that Mandelblit will return balance to the office of Attorney General.

In a continuing gross denial of his most basic civil rights, Meir Ettinger had his administrative detention extended for 4 months this afternoon.

As you may recall, Ettinger was chucked into Israeli prison six months ago without any indictment, without any access to a lawyer, and without access to his family.

Initially, the reason given to hold Ettinger was that he “was suspected” of being involved in the Duma arson case. Subsequent events showed that he was not involved in that incident in any way. Along the way, numerous other Jewish teenagers were also detained–but later released in the absence of any evidence of guilt.

Then, the government ludicrously argued, and continues to argue, that Ettinger was trying to foment a “revolution” against the government with the goal of reinstituting a Jewish monarchy in Israel.

The idea that Ettinger and his small group of cohorts somehow constituted or constitute a threat to Israel defies comprehension.

As you already know, dear reader, Ettinger is the grandson of the famed and fiery Rabbi Meir Kahane (for whom he was named) who was assassinated in 1990.

This week, Ettinger’s grandmother, Libby Kahane, blasted the Israeli government about her grandson’s imprisonment:

“The administrative order can be extended indefinitely only needing the signature of the Minister of Defense. What ends up happening is life imprisonment by installments.

libbyIn the eighties, [my husband Meir] was arrested with the same kind of administrative order which denies an individual’s fundamental freedoms. How can the government hold a person in such a way without trial and without charge and renew the order without limitation?

If there is evidence that my grandson Meir committed a crime, the government must come up with an indictment and try him in open court. But he has not been indicted because because he is innocent . . .

What has happened to our beloved country?”

Indeed what has happened to Israel?
