It is with great sadness that we report the death of Hadar Cohen, the heroic 19-year-old Border Guard who was gravely wounded at the Damascus Gate this afternoon while stopping a major terror attack.

*Four hours ago, at 2:02 pm, three Palestinian terrorists armed with guns and knives, and wearing explosive belts carried out a hideous attack at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem.
The attack began when a team of Border Guards spotted the three acting suspiciously and asked for their identification. As one terrorist began to remove his identification card, another opened fire with a machine gun wounding two Border Guards, and the third terrorist stabbed one of Guards in the neck.
As of this moment, one of the Border Guards who was shot is in “grave” condition and is fighting for her life, the second Guard who was shot is in “critical” condition but her situation has been stabilized, and the third Guard who was stabbed is in “serious” condition. MADA paramedics attempting to treat the Border Guards at the scene were themselves assaulted by a “rock” throwing mob.
Remarkably, despite the viciousness of the attack, the Border Guards were able to open fire on the terrorists and kill them all. The action of the Border Guards averted what obviously had been planned as a much larger attack involving three “suicide” bombers.
The terrorists were from Qabatiya a Palestinian settlement in northern Samaria near Jenin.
*Throughout the day, a shooting attack targeting IDF soldiers took place at Catania, and “rock” attacks took place at Al-Khader, Gittit Avishar, Route 443, Efrat, Ma’ale Amos, Hebron, Gush Etzion, and Kiryat Arba among other places.
*Three more Hamas terrorists were killed in a tunnel collapse this morning. This is the third such collapse in the last week.
