–>Palestinian terror today.

*Clashes are currently taking place all along the Gaza Border.

At least one Palestinian terrorist has been shot and killed while attempting to breach the border.

*Another Palestinian terrorist was killed earlier in the day after attacking an IDF patrol near Halhul in Judea.

*The PLO of Mahmoud Abbas has spent the day lauding the 3 terrorists who attacked a contingent a female Border Guards at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem two days ago. 19-year-old Hadar Cohen was killed in the attack but heroically managed to help kill her attackers even after she had been shot with a machine gun.

This is one of the PLO posters of the happy go lucky (but now dead) terrorists plastered all over Palestinian cities in Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria:

–>Severe winter weather continues to sock Israel, but . . .

Mt. Hermon is currently closed again because of heavy snow which is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.

However, even though there is snow on Mt. Hermon, and heavy rains throughout central and southern Israel, there has been remarkably little precipitation in the area of the Kineret (Sea of Galilee).

For this reason, pumping water out of the Kineret into Israel for drinking water has virtually come to a halt.  In 2005, 500 million cu meters of water were taken out; in the intervening years until now, the amount of water pumped out decreased t0 300 million cu meters per year.

This coming year, only 30 million cu meters will be pumped out.

The problem for the Kineret is not Israel. It is Jordan. According to the terms of the Jordanian-Israeli peace treaty signed some 25 years ago, a substantial amount of Kineret water heads to Jordan where it is used for drinking water and agriculture.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Are we on the verge of a major change in the direction of the war in Syria?

What at first glance seemed like bad news for the Syrian-Iranian-Hezbollah-Russian coalition yesterday, seems this morning to portend something entirely different.

In the way of context, remember that Aleppo is the heavily fortified center of the Syrian rebels. As such, it has been a primary target of the pro-Assad forces.

You think Israel bombed the Shujaiyeh neighborhood of Gaza? The Syrian and Russian air forces have laid waste to Aleppo--all of which looks like this neighborhood in the city (picture: New York Daily News).

The first part of the supposedly bad news was that 33 Iranian soldiers including an Iranian general, a Hezbollah field commander and 3 more Hezbollah fighters, and a Russian “advisor” were all killed in battle at Aleppo. The second part was that because of losses suffered by Syrian forces in the battle for Aleppo, women from Assad’s Alawite sect are now being recruited from Alawite enclaves along the Syrian coast.

However, a different picture has emerged today.

Rather than being bad news for the Assad coalition, these losses merely indicate the coordinated attack on Aleppo. The success of this attack has been acknowledged this afternoon by the rebel commander of Aleppo who has announced that the city is now completely surrounded and likely to fall in the coming days or weeks.

Should Aleppo fall to Assad, the entire revolt may soon collapse.

Such a collapse would be not only a major victory for Assad, but also one for Russia and Iran.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what a dramatic impact such a victory will have across the Middle East.  Or what it would mean for Israel.
