UPDATES 6:00 pm Israel time:

…Palestinian terrorism so far today…

*At 6:20 am, Hamas terrorists in Gaza fired three more mortar shells at an IDF force operating along the border. In the past three days, more than 25 mortars have been fired at our soldiers. Just after 9:00 am, IAF jets bombed an empty Hamas observation post and sand dunes around it. At noon, Palestinian media reported that Egyptian mediators had worked out a truce between terrorists in Gaza and the IDF.

*At 6:53 am, a stabbing was thwarted when a Palestinian terrorist from Hevron armed with a knife was captured at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron.

…Palestinian terrorism yesterday…

Throughout the day, at least 25 separate attacks took place.

Aside from mortars fired from Gaza at 2:36 pm, and Molotovs thrown at Biddu and Psagot, there were “rock” attacks at Hawara, Nazlat Zeid, on Route 443, at Fuka, Beit Ummar, Silwan, Issawiya, eastern Jerusalem, and elsewhere.

…Amazingly, despite the Hamas mortars and stabbings….

Israel actually increased the number of Hamas members that it transported from Gaza to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem today. 300 Hamasniks left this morning, who knows how many will return this evening?

Try to wrap your mind around this: as Hamas terrorists attacked IDF soldiers with mortars at one border crossing, Hamas terrorists were ferried out of Gaza to Jerusalem by Israel through another crossing.

It simply defies comprehension.

TODAY’S BLOG:

As any regular reader of this blog knows, your humble servant rarely, if ever, has a positive word to way about State Comptroller Yosef Shapira.

Shapira’s conduct in the past has been egregiously partisan and sanctimonious. His absurd two-year attack on Sarah Netanyahu over recycled bottle money has been particularly abominable.

Having said that, a draft of his upcoming report about the Israel-Hamas war has been leaked, and it confirms virtually every charge that your humble servant leveled against PM Netanyahu, “Defense” Minister Moshe Ya’alon, and then IDF Chief of Staff Benny “Do Nothing” Gantz during the 2014 war.

Among other items, the report will apparently:

–harshly criticize Netanyahu and Ya’alon for not updating the Security Cabinet about Shin Bet warnings of an impending conflict with Hamas.

–harshly criticize Benny Gantz for grossly inadequate military assessments which he handed the Security Cabinet.

–harshly criticize Netanyahu, Ya’alon, and Gantz for completely ignoring the tunnel threat until the war actually started–and therefore being completely unprepared for the tunnel threat.

–harshly criticize the Netanyahu Security Cabinet for its handling of the war which dragged on for some 51 days through numerous ceasefires–each of which endangered IDF soldiers.

Not surprisingly, even before the report has been published, Netanyahu described the report yesterday as “slander”, and Yaalon termed report “scandalous.”

Ya’alon is actually right for a change, but what is scandalous is how the Netanyahu-Ya’alon-Gantz triumvirate got away with gross incompetence two years ago which cost the lives of 68 brave Israeli soldiers.
