…BREAKING NEWS…

9:13 pm: Incoming rocket sirens sound for Zone 236 on the Gaza Border.

8:30 pm: Palestinian terrorist open fire on Jewish community of Itamar in Samaria.

UPDATES 7:00 pm Israel Time:

…Palestinian terrorism so far today…

An Israeli man was stabbed in Holon this morning in what police have yet to term a “terror attack.” However, in the surreal world of the Israeli police, there is a large-scale police manhunt for the “terrorist.”

Also this morning, terrorists set a large fire in Jerusalem’s Gilo neighborhood.

Just after 8:00 am today, IDF forces opened fire on a Palestinian terrorists who were approaching the Gaza Border fence.

During the day so far, there have been at least 5 separate “rock” attacks on Israelis driving in Judea and Samaria.

…Palestinian terrorism yesterday…

Two Border Guards were “moderately” wounded by Palestinian terrorists at Baisoiah.

Terrorists carried out a shooting attack at the Qalandiya checkpoint. No Israelis were wounded.

Terrorists set fire to the Kiryat Arba and Karmi Tsur security fences. Another fire was set at the Har Bracha military observation checkpoint.

“Rocks” and Molotovs targeted Israelis at At’til Al Khader, Al Ram, Route 443, Ras al-Amud, Mt. Hebron, Makel, the Hebron Pharmacy checkpoint, and the Hussan Bypass Road among other places.

…Head of the Iranian Air Force reveals US-Iran cooperation…

Iranian Air Force Commander, Brig. Gen Amir Ali Haji Zadeh, told reporters today that he has a direct line of communication to the head of the American Air Force and that there has been, and continues to be, “close coordination” between the two air forces.

Can you believe this?

It really makes one wonder what would have happened if Israel had attacked Iranian nuclear sites. Would the Obama Administration have provided intel to the Iranians?

Perhaps this is one reason why Israel never attacked Iran.

…Confusion reigns supreme in Syria…

An entire contingent of Hezbollah and Syrian Army fighters was wiped yesterday in the Al-Kalmon Mountains near the Lebanese border by the rebel organizations Hada Al-Sham and Jabhat al-Nucera.

Part of the battlefield yesterday:

Part of the battlefield yesterday: dead Hezbollah fighters.

However, as soon as that fighting subsided, the rebels were attacked by fighters from IS who apparently are trying to take over the same area of land as the rebels.

TODAY’S BLOG:

The bizarre world of Israeli politics grew even more bizarre today.

In the morning, we had news that intensive discussion between PM Netanyahu and Labor (Herzog-Livni) party leader Herzog had produced a working agreement–an agreement that will give Herzog 8 ministers in the government and numerous deputy ministers, etc.

There was even talk that Herzog would be accompanying Netanyahu to Cairo in the coming month to discuss new talks with the Palestinians.

Apparently, the only items holding up Herzog and his motley crew from joining the Coalition were Herzog’s demand that Ayelet Shaked be removed as Justice Minister and the absolute opposition to such a coalition by at least a third of the current legislators in the Labor party. Some of that third happen to be some of Labor’s most vocal representatives including Shelly Yachimovich and Merav Michaeli.

Nonetheless, things seemed to be rolling, albeit bumpily, toward a Netanyahu-Herzog Coalition.

Then the bomb dropped.

The Lieberman bomb.

Avigdor Lieberman, who heretofore had refused to be a part of the Coalition, suddenly was talking about the fact that “he really has no personal quarrel with Netanyahu” and might be willing to join the government if his conditions are met.

One of those conditions is, apparently, that he replace Moshe Ya’alon as Defense Minister–a move that would be applauded by most Israelis (and your humble servant). One report even suggested that Lieberman has already been offered the job, and Ya’alon has been so informed.

By late this afternoon, some Labor leaders are suggesting that the talks with Herzog were merely a ruse by Netanyahu to get Lieberman into the government.

Let’s sincerely hope so.

But who knows what this evening and tomorrow will bring? You never know what will happen next in the world of Israeli politics.
