UPDATES 6 pm Israel time

…Palestinian terror so far today (Wednesday)…

A Border Guard has been wounded in eastern Jerusalem; Molotov firebombs struck Israeli motorists at Al-Khader and on the Hussan Bypass Road; and numerous “rock” attacks have been carried out.

…Palestinian terror yesterday (Tuesday)…

*A knife-armed terrorist was captured in the Eshkol region after he infiltrated Israel from Gaza.

*”Rock” attacks took place at Beit Hanina, Shuafat, Efrat, Umm Salmona, the Elias intersection, Road 443, and Ras al-Amud among other places.

*Molotov firebomb assaults attempted to burn Israelis alive near Yitzhar, Jalazun, and Mt. Hebron.

…Tradition overturned…

It has been a long-standing tradition for decades that new IDF paratroopers have their swearing-in ceremony at the Kotel (Western Wall). It is a ceremony preceded by a march through the city following the route taken by paratroopers who liberated eastern Jerusalem in 1967.

Yesterday the swearing-in ceremony took place, but guess what?

Someone in the IDF General Command (as yet unknown who made the decision) decided that the march would not take place.

As one outraged commander put it:

“It’s a disgrace. In the Jubilee liberation of Jerusalem, our soldiers received instructions not to enter the Old City because of the fear that it will provoke anger among Muslims.”

…Speaking of a disgrace…

The mayor of Ma’alot, Shlomo Bohbot, traveled to Ramallah yesterday along with a delegation of officials from the city.

Once there, they unbelievably posed for pictures with Mahmoud Abbas and at the grave of Yasser Arafat.

Pathetic pictures from Ramallah as a delegation of politicians from Yitzhak Herzog's Labor party embraces Mahmoud Abbas.

Pathetic pictures from Ramallah as a delegation of politicians from Yitzhak Herzog’s Labor party embraces Mahmoud Abbas.

Why was it unbelievable?

It was Arafat and Abbas who ordered and directed the Palestinian terrorist attack that took place in Ma’alot in May 1974.

In that heinous attack, 25 Israeli hostages–including 22 Israeli high school students–were slaughtered when the terrorists blew them apart with automatic weapons fire and grenades.

Lest we forget like the delegation of Ma’alot has, those students were:  Ilana Turgeman, Rachel Aputa, Yocheved Mazoz, Sarah Ben-Shim’on, Yona Sabag, Yafa Cohen, Shoshana Cohen, Michal Sitrok, Malka Amrosy, Aviva Saada, Yocheved Diyi, Yaakov Levi, Yaakov Kabla, Rina Cohen, Ilana Ne’eman, Sarah Madar, Tamar Dahan, Sarah Sofer, Lili Morad, Zvia Mor-Joseph, David Madar and Yehudit Madar.

Just unbelievable.

…Lieberman prays, but where?…

Hours after Avigdor Lieberman was confirmed as Israel’s new Defense Minister, he went to pray at the Kotel (Western Wall).

However, this was not how the location was reported in the Palestinian media. According to Muslim media networks, Lieberman burst into and prayed at the Al-Aksa Mosque. After all, the Palestinians now claim that the entire Western Wall as well as the plaza in front of it, all of which are in the Jewish Quarter, are part of the Al-Aksa Mosque.

In fact, as we have reported previously on israelstreet, the Islamic Wakf claims that the Al-Aksa Mosque extends all the way across the plaza and up the hill to the ruins of the Tiferet Synagogue.

…Meir Ettinger is released…

Meir Ettinger walked out of prison today, his stature increased immeasurably by the actions of the Israeli security establishment.

Ettinger was at best the leader of a fringe nationalist group; now, he is a folk hero.

TODAY’S BLOG:

Your humble servant would like to conclude today with something short, sweet, and resilient.

The happy wedding party last night.

The happy wedding party last night at Elon Moreh.

Six months after being badly wounded in a terrorist attack near his yeshiva in Elon Moreh, Roy Kapah got married yesterday. He was one of three yeshiva students who were run over at the Tapuach Junction six months ago.

After a long rehabilitation, Roy recently returned home and met Saban.

The happy couple sent out this message last night:

“Whereas our enemies wish for death, we value life. And we will continue to live in our land.”

Israelstreet sends its best wishes to the couple!
