Al-Jazeera revealed today that Tareq Abbas, the son of unelected Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, owns a villa in Amman, a rooftop penthouse in Beirut, and a luxury apartment in the Merchant Square East section of London.

…Jerusalem under attack?… 

Two petitions were circulated in Jerusalem today.

The one above was created and disseminated by the Rabbis of King David’s Tomb on Mt. Zion. It calls for a human blockade to stop “idolaters carrying incense with crosses” from entering the area of the Tomb.

The “idolaters” are Catholic monks who will be making their way to the room above King David’s Tomb–the room where the “Last Supper” was supposedly held.

The second petition comes from Rabbis associated with the Kotel. They ask the Jerusalem Police to stop an egalitarian prayer scheduled to take place in the coming hours at the Wall.

And the walls keep going up, or down as the case may be.

So Israel now has a fence along the Egyptian border, is building a fence along the Jordanian border, has a fence along the Lebanese border, a fence along the Syrian border, a separation fence/wall in Judea and Samaria, and a fence/wall along the Gaza border.

The reason for the designation fence/wall is that part of the border barrier is a fence and other parts are a wall.

Now it turns out that more walls are going up and down.

First, in the north, it appears that the government has actually started listening to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah who continuously says that in the next war with Israel, Hezbollah will capture Israeli towns, kibbutzes, and moshavs along the border and hold them.

To counter this threat, work has already begun building a wall at Kibbutz Misgav Am on the Lebanese border:

Far more ambitious is what is the works for the Gaza border.

Your humble servant regularly travels along the border where the “fence” varies from a high concrete wall in the area around the Erez Crossing to a virtually nonexistent fence in the area of Nahal Oz.

None of what is currently in place has put even the smallest dent in the ongoing Hamas efforts to tunnel across the border into Israel.

Now, finally, the IDF has decided to do something serious about the tunnels.  A 60-mile long wall will be built around Gaza at a cost of 2.2 billion shekels. The wall will be “tens of meters” deep.

Note that the Egyptians have already been hard at work on a wall on the Gaza-Egypt border (on the far left side of this graphic).

Judging from a recent tunnel that was discovered 50 meters underground, tens of meters should probably be a hundred meters.

Walls walls and more walls.

On the one hand, the walls that Israel has erected have been tremendously effective in stopping terrorists and infiltrators.

On the other hand, they seem like the politically correct solution to situations in which we should have long ago laid waste to the terrorists in Gaza, Lebanon, and elsewhere.
