UPDATES  8 am Israel time:

Ori Sasson and Yarden Gerbi, our Olympic medal winners, returned home to a boisterous reception at Ben Gurion airport early this morning.

It was amazing how many people turned up just after midnight to welcome the athletes home.

It was amazing how many people turned up just after midnight to welcome the athletes home.

Festooned with banners, the airport was the scene of cheering and congratulations.

By the way, the Egyptian who lost to Sasson and refused to shake his hand was sent home by the International Olympic Committee yesterday for “unsportsmanlike” behavior.

…Palestinian terror yesterday unreported in the mainstream media…

*“Rock” attacks were the terror of the day with Israelis in Ras al-Amud, Dahiyat al Barid, and all along Road 443 being the targets. Fortunately no Israelis were physically wounded.

*A Palestinian terrorist who stabbed a police officer back in 2013 was captured after eluding police for three years. The officer was stabbed in the back but recovered while Muhammad  Abi-Henek disappeared.

*As we all know, Israel is overrun with illegal Palestinians. A token attempt is made each day to arrest a few of them and send them back to Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria–where they proceed to make their way back into the country.

Yesterday, the token attempt took place in Ra’anana where 8 Palestinians were taken into custody. One of those captured was a terrorist who was released in the Gilad Shalit exchange.

…Where does the money to fund anti-Israel activities come from?…

How would you describe the fact that hacked emails of billionaire George Soros–a primary supporter of the Democratic Party–show that he has contributed well over $10 million dollars in recent years to delegitimize Israel.

Some of the organizations kept afloat by Soros include Adalah, the New Israel Fund, and PCI (Palestinian Citizens of Israel)–all of which focus their entire strength on undermining Israel.

A series of statistics from various sources appeared yesterday all of which combine to show how the haredim (ultra-orthodox) are changing.

A few of those numbers:

*On average, married haredi women have 6.9 children (compared with 3.1 for non-haredi Israeli women). As high as this seems, it is a drop from 7.5 children just two years ago. Nevertheless, the entire community is growing at a rate of 4%.

*Only 10% of haredi teenagers finish high school: 2% of boys receive a matriculation certificate and 17% of girls. These low numbers are actually an increase in those of previous years.

*Despite the atrociously low high school numbers, 15% of haredi men who graduate from high school and 23% of the women go on to study for advanced academic degrees.

But it is in the area of employment that we see the largest changes:

50% of haredi men are now employed (compared to 87% of non-haredi men), and 73% of haredi women are employed (compared to 81% of non-haredi women). Both numbers are a significant increase.

By the way, Israel’s overall unemployment rate is only 4.8%.

So what are the trends that we see: fewer children, more matriculation, and greater assimilation into the workforce.

*The above statistics were reported in the Jerusalem Post and Yediot Aharonot.
