UPDATES  8 am Israel time:

…Palestinian terror unreported in the mainstream media…

*Last night, Palestinian terrorists attacked a bus near Neve Tzuf with Molotov firebombs setting it ablaze. Fortunately, all of the passengers were able to escape.

*Palestinian terrorists assaulted Israelis with “rocks” at Hevron, Rachel’s Tomb, Dahiyat al-Barid, Ras Khamis, Zeita, Jenin, Al Hader, Batzira Shamaliya, and El Aruv.

*Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF soldiers operating along the Gaza Border.

…The bizarre episode at Ben Gurion airport yesterday…

As was reported on israelstreet breaking news, a car carrying four Palestinians broke through the barrier at the entrance to Ben Gurion airport, continued on the road to Terminal 3 (the main terminal), and finally was brought to a halt near the Departures Hall. Two of the Palestinians then jumped out of the car and attempted to climb the fence into the tarmac area. They were captured by security personnel.

Last night, following an “investigation”, all 4 Palestinians were released.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Why were they released? Because they told investigators it was merely a case of taking the wrong exit off of Highway 1. They claimed that they had no intention of going to the airport.

No intention of going to the airport?

A few questions:

Why did they ignore orders to stop at the barrier? (Isn’t refusal to stop a crime?)

How were they able to crash through the barrier? (Isn’t breaking through the barrier a crime? . . . and why weren’t they shot when they did?)

How were they able to continue driving toward the main terminal? (Isn’t refusing to stop while being chased by security personnel a crime?)

Why did two of the Palestinians try to get into the tarmac area? (Isn’t attempting to break into the airport runway area a crime?. . . and why weren’t they shot?)

The entire episode is a searing indictment of airport security.

If a car full of self-professed “well-intentioned” Palestinians was able to penetrate the airport’s defenses so easily, can you even begin to imagine what would have happened if there had been a car full of terrorists?

…Obama Administration “deeply troubled” again (yawn)…

As we have often pointed out here on israelstreet, the Obama Administration either in the form of the White House spokesman or the State Department spokesman or some other spokesman finds something to be deeply troubled about every day here in Israel.

The Administration just can’t stand the thought that a democratically elected government can make decisions on its own. For Obama, Israel is supposed to be a subservient lapdog that toes the Obama line on everything from Iran to Syria to Judea and Samaria.

Yesterday, it was so-called “settlement expansion” again with White House press secretary Josh Earnest expressing “grave concern” over possible new building (234 apartments for a senior citizens’ home) in Elkana and 20 homes in Givat Ze’ev as well as 179 housing units retroactively approved in Ofarim.

Grave concern.

Over a senior citizens’ home and neighborhoods already built.

Yawn.

TODAY’S BLOG:

In what will undoubtedly be a bombshell moment in the trial of the Hevron soldier next week, it was revealed yesterday that defense witness Professor Yehuda Hiss–the former Chief Pathologist at the Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine–will testify that the Palestinian terrorist Elor Azariah is accused of killing was, in fact, already dead when Elor Azariah fired his gun.

According to Hiss, he had been killed by shots fired by other soldiers who were attempting to stop the terrorist as he stabbed another soldier in Hevron. The fact that his hands moved–which led Azariah to shoot him–can be explained as nothing more than a reflex action that the terrorist’s body made post mortem.

Your humble servant cannot help but reflect upon the anguish that this absurd case has caused to the nation, to the IDF, and not least, to Elor and his family. As you may or may not know, Elor’s father suffered a major stroke last month and is largely incapacitated.

Was any of this necessary?

Of course not.

It was only necessary in the minds of IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot and  then-Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon who were so obsessed with political correctness that they let an unedited B’tselem video dictate their course of action.

The sooner the trial is over the better.
