UPDATES  8 am Israel time:

…Palestinian terror unreported in the mainstream media…

If you check today’s “Breaking News” at the top of this page, you see that two attacks have taken place early this morning: one at the Har Shmuel Synagogue in Jerusalem where a worshiper was badly wounded in a stabbing attack, and the other on the Gaza border where an IDF force came under fire.

Molotov and “rock” attacks occurred yesterday at Hawara, Beit Ummar, Rachel’s Tomb, Shuafat, Migdalot, Qalqilya, Ras Al-Amud, Route 443 near the Maccabim checkpoint, Silwan, Hevron and elsewhere.

…When will we ever learn?…

Every time Israel offers “gestures” for peace, Israelis are murdered by Palestinians and the gestures are canceled. Most recently, this sequence took place at the end of Ramadan in June.

But never mind.

Yesterday, the utterly incompetent but always politically correct head of COGAT proudly announced that Defense Lieberman has approved the following gestures for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday:

*100,000 Palestinians will be allowed to leave their homes in Areas A and B of Judea and Samaria and come to Jerusalem.

*an undetermined number of Palestinians from Gaza will be permitted to come pray at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

*Palestinians will be permitted to leave Israel via Ben Gurion Airport.

*Palestinians living abroad will be permitted to enter Judea and Samaria.

*More Palestinians will be permitted through the Allenby Bridge into and from Jordan.

In short, the more rocks and Molotovs that are thrown, the more stabbings that take place, the more shooting attacks on the Gaza border, the more we give the Palestinians.

Pathetic. Pathetic. And more pathetic.

The only question is which Israelis will be murdered this time. Murdered in the name of political correctness.

…Speaking of “rock” throwing…

"Rocks" used in the attack, the bridge they were thrown from, and dents in another car from "rocks."

“Rocks” used in the attack, the bridge they were thrown from, and dents in another car from “rocks.”

All of Denmark is now in an uproar over “rock” attacks that have been taking place on Danish roads, especially ones that go under bridge overpasses. This past weekend, a German woman was killed, her husband critically wounded, and their five year old son moderately wounded by a 30-pound “rock” that was thrown at their car.

This is the seventh “rock” attack so far this year–four of them in the last week. All of the “rocks” weighed between 8 and 30 pounds.

Some of the comments from those attacked have been interesting.

An ambulance driver:  “We heard a huge crash, and I thought it was a bird or another animal that struck us . . . If it had hit just inches away, I could have lost my friend. Or it could have gone through the sunroof and harmed the patient. It’s sick. It’s like walking into a nightclub and someone starts shooting a machine gun. The difference is that here they shoot stones.”

Another motorist, Kenneth Schroeder: “The person or persons who did this certainly did that on purpose, trying to hurt me. Because there was no one in front of me and there was nobody behind me. They saw the headlights and then threw the rock down to hurt me.” In Schroeder’s case, the “rock” was almost a meter long.

Thus far there have been no arrests in attacks though witnesses report seeing a group of four or five men around 25 years old perpetrating the assaults.

Your humble just has one thing to add to the Danes.

Welcome to Judea and Samaria.

 TODAY’S BLOG:

A great man died yesterday.

Rabbi Eliyahu Yosef She’ar Yashuv Cohen passed away at age 89.

Rabbi . May he rest in peace, and blessed be his memory.

Rabbi Cohen (1927-2016) .

The Rabbi was not just any rabbi. Behind his wise face was a fierce fighter–both literally and figuratively.

We could spend days recounting his life, but a few items may suffice today:

*He was born into a rabbinic family in Jerusalem. His father was a student of Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Kook–the founder of religious Zionism.

*He studied at the famous Merkaz Harav Yeshiva, the home of religious Zionism.

*While at Merkaz Harav, he joined an underground fighting unit called the Hasmonean Covenant and fought against the British occupation. He was one of the founders of Yeshivat Hesder.

*During the War of Independence, he served with Etzel and fought to defend Jerusalem and the area around Gush Etzion–fighting in convoys attempting to break the Jerusalem blockade.

*During the battle for the Old City of Jerusalem, he was seriously wounded and captured by the Jordanian Legion.

*While in captivity in the Mafraq Prison in Amman, his foot was operated on by Arab doctors; he remained crippled in that foot for the rest of his life.

*After being released from captivity, he served in the IDF for seven years, and became a Lieutenant Colonel, and afterwards Rabbi of Military Command and Chief Rabbi of the Israeli Air Force.

*He subsequently received a Master’s degree in law from the Hebrew University School of Law.

*In 1967, he was Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem when the eastern part of the city was liberated.

*In 1973, he volunteered at the outset of the Yom Kippur War, and was the chaplain of the brigade that crossed the Suez Canal.

And on and on…Chief Ashkenazic Rabbi of Haifa for more than 35 years, founder of the Ariel Institute for training rabbis and rabbinic judges.

And did we mention that the Rabbi played the violin, was was a lifelong vegetarian, avoided drinking wine, was the brother-in-law of famed Rabbi Shlomo Goren (who married his sister)?

As I said, we could write a book about his life, and certainly someone will.

We will leave you today with a quotation from the good Rabbi:

“Anyone who removes Jewish settlements in the Land of Israel and God forbid will also demolish the synagogues and uproot cemeteries, will not be spared, not in this world or the next . . . this is wickedness and cruelty unsurpassed . . . There is no greater crime.”

May his memory be forever blessed.
