The most abominable quote of the day . . .
You remember that yesterday our most praiseworthy quote of the day came from U.S. United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley who forcefully stated in the United Nations that:
“The United States does not recognize Palestine as a state.”
We applauded Ambassador Haley for having the guts and eloquence to say what no one else is willing to say.
However, in a call for donations yesterday, the hideous self-proclaimed “pro-Israel” group J Street called on its members:
“Tell Ambassador Haley to reverse this anti-Palestinian policy immediately.”
J Street is nothing less than pro-Palestinian evil personified, and its call is our most abominable quote of the day.
Palestinian terror during the last 24 hours . . .
It was a day of attempted stabbing attacks around the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hevron–none of which were reported in the mainstream Israel media or the international media.
In the two most egregious instances, knife-armed terrorists were captured by Border Police at checkpoints around Judaism’s second holiest place.
Elsewhere, at another holy place, the Tomb of Rachel near Bethlehem, female Jewish worshipers were attacked with “rocks”, and IDF soldiers were hit with an IED. Fortunately no one was wounded.
26 “rock” and Molotov attacks took place in Judea, Samaria, and eastern Jerusalem.
The threat on the Gaza border grows . . .
The elite Rimon Reconnaisance Unit, an IDF group that specializes in fighting behind enemy lines to interdict terrorists, smugglers, and infiltrators, has been reassigned from the Egyptian border to the Gaza border.
The Iranian threat grows . . .

The battle over the Kotel intensifies . . .
As we have pointed out in recent blogs, the battle for the Kotel being waged by Reform and Conservative Jews is a battle being waged out of sheer, unadulterated ignorance and overweening hubris. There already is an egalitarian section at the Kotel where men and women can pray together, but the Reform and Conservative groups are not satisfied with what they have.

And the American Jewish community, which seems to be particularly ignorant and arrogant, is now beginning a boycott of Israeli officials by disinviting them to their particular federations.

The Outrageous Release of Ehud Olmert
You have undoubtedly heard by now that one of the most corrupt politicians in Israeli history, former PM Ehud Olmert, will be released from prison on Sunday. This came after the Israeli Pardon Board lopped 1/3 from his prison sentence.
Let’s take a short walk down memory lane–and we’ll begin some 30 years after the first investigations into Olmert’s corruption began (back in the 1980s).
On March 31, 2014, Olmert was convicted of two counts of bribery involving some $160,000 which he received while mayor of Jerusalem. The bribes were in exchange for helping land developers receive a building license for the now infamous Holyland Project.
On May 13, 2014, Olmert was sentenced to 6 years in prison and fined $430,000. He was ordered to begin his prison sentence on September 1, 2014. However, he did not enter prison pending appeal.
In December 2014, Olmert’s personal secretary produced audio tapes on which Olmert could be heard offering her $10,000 for every month she would serve in prison–if she took the blame for the Holyland bribery. No one questioned the authenticity of the tapes.
Nevertheless, Olmert’s sentence was reduced through various appeals to Olmert’s leftist friends on the Israel Supreme Court to only 19 months–then subsequently increased to only 27 months (based on the tapes). Finally, Olmert began serving his ridiculously short sentence on February 15, 2016.
As of yesterday he had served 499 days in prison–about 16 months.
To be honest, your humble servant grew to detest Olmert over the years because of his increasing willingness to hand over Jerusalem to an international consortium and cede Judea and Samaria to the Palestinians.
Having said that, Olmert’s release is outrageous. It is absurd how Olmert has essentially circumvented justice (his claims yesterday that “justice has been served” were sickening).
It is also absurd how within a month, the utterly corrupt Olmert will be out on the leftist lecture circuit blasting our Israeli government and embracing his friends in the equally corrupt Palestinian leadership.
