Asher Palmer and his son Jonatan: Murdered by Palestinian terrorists last Friday near Hevron.

Asher Palmer and his son Jonatan: Murdered by Palestinian terrorists last Friday near Hevron.

As was reported on this blog on Friday afternoon, a Subaru traveling northbound on Highway 60 crashed off the road between Kiryat Arba and Karmei Tzur beside Hevron immediately killing its driver Asher Hillel Palmer (25) and his ten month old son Jonathan. The car apparently flipped in the air twice hitting a stone wall and falling into a roadside ditch.

When officials arrived on the scene, they discovered that the windshield of the car had been shattered and had a large hole in it–which was in a precise alignment with the position that Asher’s head would have been inside the car. Asher’s face “was crushed in the region of the lip”.  The large rock that had shattered the windshield and struck Asher in the face was actually on the front seat beside Asher’s body with blood on it. The gun that Asher always carried to protect his family was missing.

From the moment this information was reported by people on the scene, it was obvious that the crash had been caused by a terrorist or terrorists throwing rocks.  And so the news went out over an elaborate informal system of local Israelis reporting news in their given communities and appeared in the breaking news scroller of this israelstreet blog. Several hours later Mahmoud Abbas was scheduled to speak at the United Nations.

Because of that impending speech, and despite all the evidence to the contrary, IDF spokesmen insisted on reporting the crash to the media as “an accident”.  In fact, the IDF went so far as to even report that soldiers who were at the scene “claimed that they had not seen any rocks” being thrown at passing vehicles. This version of events was quickly seconded by the police. No attempt was made by the IDF or the police to apprehend the terrorist perpetrators.

The IDF/police apparently thought that reporting the truth would have “inflamed” the Palmers’ community members, an inflammation that might have somehow disrupted Abbas’ speech.

At a court hearing yesterday, a police representative changed the official story dissembling that there was “reasonable suspicion that the car veered off the road due to a rock shattering the windshield.”  The police representative proceeded to add that 18 cases of  stone throwing at Israeli vehicles from cars have been reported in the Hevron area in recent weeks–none of which have been resolved.

The funeral for Asher and Yonathan, victims of Palestinian terrorism and disgusting IDF and Israel police incompetence, was held in Kiryat Arba last night. As was reported in the Jerusalem Post this morning, Asher’s brother-in-law spoke the following words:

“Asher, you were my beloved, noble brother in- law. Yonatan, my nephew, people used to stop me in the street and say what a little angel your sister has, with eyes as blue as the heavens, a baby that at only 10 months old started to walk. Asher, the love of my heart, who never said anything loud, always spoke softly, always with a pure heart.”
