Quote of the Day
“If it’s so important for Netanyahu, he should pay the Palestinians $12 million dollars.”
Senior White House officials quoting President Trump yesterday
Trump’s comment came after PM Netanyahu requested that the Americans hand over $12 million dollars to the PLO for maintenance of their “security services”–a request that Trump rejected out of hand.
Of course, the flabberghasting facet of this entire episode is that it is PM Netanyahu pleading with the U.S. to pay money to the PLO. It reminds us of how PM Netanyahu also begged the Qataris to pay extortion money to Hamas.
The Video of the Day: Bee Free Honey
A group of enterprising students (iGem) at Israel’s Technion have just won a world competition by succeeding to produce Bee-Free honey. If you want to understand how they did it, click here.
The News on the Israeli Street
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours on the Gaza border . . .
Residents of the border communities were rocked by two large explosions yesterday–from northern and central Gaza. Fortunately neither explosion occurred in Israel.
The explosion in northern Gaza was a failed missile launch which either exploded upon launch or crashed and exploded before reaching the border fence. The explosion in central Gaza occurred with a “balloon cluster” laden with explosives blew up before crossing into Israel.
There is no information as to whether Palestinians were wounded or killed by these Palestinian explosions.
Palestinian terror in the past 10 months . . .
Shin Bet Head Nadav Argaman revealed yesterday that Israel’s security service has thwarted more than “450 significant attacks” since the beginning of the year.
Argaman said that advanced technology is what is keeping Israel one step ahead of Palestinian terrorists.
But stop and think about this for a moment.
More than 450 significant attacks.
In 10 months.
Can you imagine where Israel would be without Shin Bet?
The Iranian nuclear weapons program accelerates . . .
The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed yesterday that it has evidence that Iran has delivered UF6 (uranium hexaflouride gas) to its underground Fordow enrichment facility and is already injecting it into advanced centrifuges there.
It remains unclear how the IAEA confirmed this information since Iran is now prohibiting all nuclear inspectors from entering the country.
PM Netanyahu reaffirmed yesterday that under no conditions will Israel ever let Iran obtain a nuclear bomb. How Israel could ever prevent it from happening is a mystery since the Iranian nuclear weapons program is far underground out of the reach of bunker busting bombs.
Speaking of PM Netanyahu . . .
Yesterday found our prime minister rightly crowing about the growth of the Israeli economy.
Netanyahu tweeted this:
Israeli exports in 1995 totaled $27.5 billion . . . Israeli exports this year are $110 billion – a record of all time. This is the result of the free market economy that I have driven in your support. Thank you!
The simple fact is that the Israeli economy continues to prosper despite the BDS effort to destroy it.
TODAY’S BLOG:
Burn Those Fields!
As Sunday’s deadline for Israel pulling out of the Peace Island area at Naharayim and Tzofar in the northern Arava looms, Israeli farmers have not stopped begging Jordan to reconsider their refusal to extend the lease agreement on these two areas, and the Jordanians have not stopped brutishly declaring that the Israelis will be persona non grata as of Sunday.
However, yesterday after yet another demeaning press conference in Amman during which the Jordanian scoffed at the leases being extended, the Jordanians did promise to “think about” reimbursing the Israeli farmers for the produce that is ready to harvest in these agricultural areas.
By the way, the total amount of area being handed over to Jordan is about 250 acres of land–or just over 1 square kilometer.
As we noted last year when we visited the Island of Peace, the beautiful monument there to the schoolgirls who were massacred by the Jordanian soldier will almost certainly be destroyed:
In your humble servant’s opinion, every agricultural field to be turned over to the Jordanians should be burned on Saturday.
