Photo of the Day:
What you are looking at is one of the “new” missiles that Islamic Jihad fired at southern Israel the other day. As we reported two days ago, this Burgan missile carries 300 kg of explosives but has a range of only 5 km. That 5 km is far enough to hit virtually all of the kibbutzim and moshavim along the Gaza border.
The News on the Israeli Street
Iranian missiles in the last 6 hours on the Syrian/Lebanese border:
Incoming missile sirens sounded in Neve Ativ, Nimrod, and Majdal Shams this morning at 4:52 am. About a minute later, four missiles were intercepted by the Iron Dome.
The missiles were launched by an Iranian force in the area of the Damascus airport which was attacked by the IAF earlier in the middle of the night. In that attack an Iranian missile warehouses were destroyed–but obviously not all missiles.
Palestinian terror in the last 24 hours . . .
In Judea and Samaria:
Karmi Tzur, the T Junction in Gush Etzion, Tekoa, Mt. Hevron, Hawara, Shilo, Al-Aruv, Tapuach, Luban a Sharqiya, and Shechem: these were 10 out of some 25 places where Palestinian terrorists attacked Israelis with “rocks” and Molotovs.
In Jerusalem:
A Palestinian terrorist was captured at the Nablus Gate (Shar Shechem) as he attempted to stab Border Guards. No one was wounded.
Palestinian terrorists working on the third floor of a construction site attempted to kill a 10-year-old girl who was walking on the sidewalk below by dropping a piece of concrete on her head. She was moderately wounded; the terrorists were arrested.
On the Gaza border:
See below to watch a video of what happened when a Burgan missile exploded in a greenhouse area of the Eshkol Region this week. Be sure to watch the video until the end to see the crater (thanks to Rezil Mendi for posting the video):

A follow up to our La Pulga Atomica blog yesterday . . .
The Argentina-Uruguay game went off without a hitch at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv last night. Broadcast on Israeli television, the game did not disappoint.
A beautiful free kick by Luis Suarez put the Uruguayan squad up 2-1 in the 63rd minute (thanks to Shai Ben-Ari for posting this video):

And it seemed that the game would end this way until Lionel Messi scored for Argentina on a penalty kick with 4 minutes to go in the game, bringing the game to a 2-2 draw.
36 more hours for Benny Gantz . . .
As the deadline for his forming a government moves ever closer, Benny Gantz may or may not be able to do so.
There are so many conflicting reports flying in every direction this morning–most of them focusing on what Avigdor Lieberman will or will not do.
Just when you think he has an agreement with Gantz, Lieberman shows up for a late night meeting with Netanyahu and gives indications he might join the Netanyahu 55 block.
There is simply no way of telling what Lieberman might do–especially given the startling announcement of the U.S. government yesterday (see Today’s Blog below).

TODAY’S BLOG
The Trump Administration:
Israeli Communities In Judea And Samaria Are Not Illegal!
Click here for the announcement yesterday from U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Wow. Wow. And double wow!
For some of us who have been saying this for decades, this announcement from the Trump Administration yesterday was a lightning bolt from out of the blue:
“The establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not, per se, inconsistent with international law.”
To put this a different way: there is nothing inherently illegal about building Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Jews have every right to live there, and there is no international law that says otherwise.
Here at OneIsrael, we have always maintained that condemnations of “illegal Israeli settlement activity” by the United Nations, European Union, International Court of Justice, PLO, and others were a fraud. That fraud, abetted by the media, has been perpetrated for decades despite all evidence to the contrary.
Yesterday, following the U.S. announcement, these purveyors of fraud were busy at it again.
The PLO: “We condemn the U.S. announcement. The settlements are illegal under international law.”
EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini: “The EU position about the occupied Palestinian territory is clear and remains unchanged: all settlement activity is illegal under international law.”
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “The settlements are a blatant violation of international law.”
J Street: “By discarding decades of bipartisan US policy and flagrantly disregarding international law, [the Trump Administration is] trampling on the rights of Palestinians and helping the Israeli right-wing to destroy Israel’s future as a democratic homeland for the Jewish people.”
Bernie Sanders: “Israeli settlements in occupied territory are illegal. This is clear from international law and multiple United Nations resolutions.”
And on and on. There was no end to anti-Israel bashing yesterday.
Here in Israel, the tone was the same as above among leftists, but markedly different elsewhere:
PM Netanyahu: “This policy reflects a historical truth — that the Jewish people are not foreign colonialists in Judea and Samaria. Israel’s legal system, which has proven itself fully capable of addressing legal questions related to the settlements, is the appropriate place for these matters to be adjudicated — not biased international forums that pay no attention to history or facts.”
Moshe Ya’alon of the Kahol Lavan Party: “I salute the United States administration’s historic stance and acknowledgment regarding the legality of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and their consistency with international law. It is important to set the record straight and receive endorsement of what we have known all along . . . an aboriginal people cannot be considered an illegal settler in its ancestral homeland.”
Ayelet Shaked: “Now is the time to apply our sovereignty to these communities. The Jewish People have the legal & moral right to live in their ancient homeland.”
Of course, we at OneIsrael believe that this is yet another occasion to applaud President Trump for making a courageous decision that sets the record straight.
Who else should we thank?
*PM Netanyahu for lobbying for this change of policy.
*The Women In Green who never have stopped fighting for Israeli sovereignty over Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
*Israel’s Christian supporters around the world led by evangelicals who have been at the forefront of advocating for Judea and Samaria.
*Most of all, the Israeli people who fought for Judea and Samaria millenia ago and renewed the fight in 1948.
